Influential Donor May Bolt From GOP Over Anti-Muslim Hysteria

An influential Muslim GOP donor is at the end of her tether, and tells TPM she may eventually have to leave the Republican party over its opposition to the Cordoba House project and other anti-Muslim positions.

"I don't know if I'll be a Republican a year from now," says Seeme Hasan, who chairs the Hasan Family Foundation in Colorado, and has close ties to the Republican party leadership. Hasan's frustration with the GOP was evident, and not just over their public opposition to the construction of a Muslim cultural center in lower Manhattan. "Every time a Muslim person becomes famous, they are viciously attacked," Hasan said.

"The past few years in the Republican party has been constant humiliation for Muslims," Hasan told TPM in an interview yesterday evening.

Hasan continues to support the Republican party, including the GOP's Senate nominee from Colorado, Ken Buck, who also opposes the Cordoba project.

Good grief, if someone keeps poking at you with a knife, how long do you wait until you tell them to stop or turn around and leave? Eventually, something bad is going to happen. Good grief, take your money and run, the GOP hates you! What more do they need to do? :shrug:

6. I see this attitude a lot in the Muslim communities. They don't really know what

is behind the curtain of the Republican party and being exposed to both, think it is not anti-religion and anti-belief (which the GOP says the Dem's and Liberals are). I try to explain to them the hypocrisy of the GOP, some listen. Many of the Muslim's living in the U.S. are Doctor's who hear the GOP won't raise their taxes and don't look further at what the GOP stands for. Not an excuse, just the reality. Maybe the Community Center debate will open a few more eyes.

Just a random list off the top of my head, I'm certain this can be extended to at least 50 "groups" or "institutions", probably more. It seems that GOP has, in it's infinite capacity to have a lack of wisdom alienated just about everyone except 2nd Amendment voters, anti-choice voters and the religious right.

I've said it before, I'll say it again, the GOP is on it's way out as a viable political party, I would be surprised if they last beyond the Mid-term.
