Retired Louisiana Supreme Court Justice Chet Traylor may not be raising much money, but he’s almost doubled his haul in the past three days for his primary bid against embattled Sen. David Vitter (R-La.).
Traylor raised $30,000 in his most recent fundraising report, which is almost as much as the $42,000 he banked in the first few weeks of the race.
It’s unlikely that Traylor can defeat Vitter in the Aug. 28 primary without raising a significant amount, but even his minimal spending could affect the race.
Traylor has already spent much of those funds going negative on Vitter, spending $30,000 on a brutal radio ad criticizing Vitter. The spot brings up several well-publicized and controversial episodes for Vitter, including when he admitted to committing a “serious sin” in conjunction with theD.C. Madam’s prostitution ring and keeping an aide on staff after he was charged with assaulting his girlfriend.
