Insider Advantage--Georgia Gov: Deal 45% Barnes 41%
(It's tight--hopefully dems can win and this would be a dem pick up)

InsiderAdvantage Georgia

August 19, 2010 —

An InsiderAdvantage/WSB-TV poll conducted Aug. 18 showed Republican Nathan Deal leading Democrat Roy Barnes by four points in the race for Georgia governor; that’s exactly the poll’s margin of error. In the race for U.S. Senate, the poll showed incumbent Republican Johnny Isakson leading Democrat Michael Thurmond 47% to 35%.

The poll was conducted with the firm’s usual IVR telephone survey system and included results from 554 registered voters who said they were likely to vote in the November elections. The results were weighted for age, race gender and political affiliation. In the governor’s race, the poll produced these results:

Nathan Deal, 45%
Roy Barnes, 41%
John Monds (Libertarian), 5%
No opinion, 9%

In the race for U.S. Senate, the results were:

Johnny Isakson, 47%
Michael Thurmond, 35%
Chuck Donovan (Libertarian), 7%
No opinion, 11%

1. Yeah, but the Democrat is Roy Barnes.
Not exactly the kind of Democrat many of us want to be excited about.

Google "Roy Barnes Arizona Immigration Law" if you want to see why.

7. In Georgia, a Democrat will not be the liberal, more progressive one that we want,
but I can assure you that Roy Barnes was a great governor on the economic front; brought many jobs to the state; oversaw a booming local housing market; expanded benefits for teachers; focused efforts on the abysmal transportation system and improve air quality through stronger emissions standards for the state.

I'm sorry, but I'd much rather have Barnes back in office as the governor than Nathan "I such Newt Gingrinch's Nuts" Deal. :puke:

9. Yep.
I worked in the state university system when he was governor. Those were better times. Higher education had relatively good funding. We got decent raises. Then, ol' Sonny Boy stole the governorship, and he later threw a bunch of us under the bus. I still haven't been able to scrape myself up off the road from that hit.

8. That's encouraging.
Especially given that Congressional redistricting is coming up.
