Top Lawyer for RSCC has been dispatched to AK to help Murkowski
WASHINGTON (AP) -- The top lawyer for the Republicans' Senate campaign committee is heading to Alaska to help Sen. Lisa Murkowski, who is trailing in the primary vote.

Murkowski asked Sean Cairncross to help her campaign prepare for the counting of as many as 16,000 absentee ballots cast before Tuesday's primary. Republican officials say the National Republication Senatorial Committee's chief counsel will spend a few days in Alaska.

With all precincts reporting, heavily favored Murkowski trailed conservative lawyer Joe Miller by 1,668 votes, leaving both hoping that uncounted absentee ballots will give them the victory. Officials will start counting absentee ballots next Tuesday.

Not for nothing. but this is going to really piss off the Tea Party. Which I have no problem with... Because it sets up ore establishment vs insurgency battles.

1. The establishment in either party almost always supports and aids the incumbent.
Another example of that is the support that Lincoln got in Arkansas from the Dem establishment. So I wouldn't read too much more into this than that.

2. I agree
But I also think that if she pulls out a win somehow, with a legal battle, recount, etc. the tea party gang is not going to be happy at all, and Miller could run as a write in. I don't think either one of the is going to accept a loss without some kind of a fight, or recount. I could be wrong, but only time will tell!

4. In a two way race it would be hard for Scott McAdams to pull it off regardless of whether
the tea party folks are angry or not. Our best hope would be if the GOP primary loser goes independent and runs anyway.
How much of a chance there is that it could happen that way I don't know.

5. That's what I am saying.
Our only shot at a pick-off is if that happens. And the Tea Party nationally needs some heroes/martyrs to help it splinter from the GOP. You almost wish that McCollum could contemplate an indy run in Florida(can't due to a sore loser provision) for the same reason. Incumbency vs Insurgency drives a stake in the heart of the GOP.

6. Is Palin sending anyone up there to help combat the nefarious Murkowski?
I guess not. It would involve taking money out of her coffers.

7. Didn't take long at all for the fixers to gather their
yellow notebooks and hop a plane for the Murkowski rescue.
