When Congress reconvenes, it should propose:

Raise the tax rate on the wealthy to those of the prosperous Eisenhower and Kennedy years and raise the capital gains tax for the wealthy. Then use half of the increased revenues to lower the tax of the middle class. Heads would explode on the right, but I think most of the Independents would be pleased with the tax cut. And I think it could be defended by telling the rich that it's their patriotic duty to help us out of an economic crisis largely of their own making, with a vague promise to lower tax rates as soon as possible. (And, yes, courtesy of rurallib, some cuts in the military to demonstrate fiscal responsibility.)

A very deep cut in the defense budget is required. We can pull out, and shut down most of the bases overseas, and return to the concept of defense, not aggression.

It has been 30 years, and the defense budget has been overbloated.

It's time to end the Rethuglicans favorite pork.

Retrain the soldiers for jobs here.

Levy taxes on US based companies that outsources jobs, Encourage them to hire more by lowering taxes when company keeps Americans employed.

Until then, the Free Trade Agreements are what is threatening American jobs.

I don't see the purpose of fantasizing of going back to JFK-era taxes. It's going to be a fight to get them back to Clinton levels.

Because short of the Congress going Republicans, I hadn't seen anything but rumors and run away speculations on the Internet....sort of like the whole so called "catfood" commission discussions oftentime seen around these parts.

Sure.....there's been lotsa innuendos and hyperbole discussed by some progressives....but as far as actual factual evidence beyond a little of this or of that taken out of context which then folks bent on having a negative "the worse is sure to happen" outlook selectively deciding to hold up as some kind of signs or facts, I haven't really seen any real concrete reasons for these "It's gonna be terrible" rumors.

7. I never bought into the point some made that the Public Option

was the panacea of all things health, and that nothing else would do.

Meanwhile, I was looking for the sign that at least 31 million additional folks would be able to have access to a doctor at a reasonable price as opposed to not at all.

I have also seen the consistent recurring signs that some will never be satisfied with anything ever done by this administration which started
as far back as November 6, 2008. :eyes:
