A little bit of Bible study appropriate to today:
Most people are familiar with the story of Solomon's judgment. Two women who are living together come to Solomon with two babies, one dead and the other living. Each woman claims the living child as her own. Solomon offers to cut the baby in half, but the real mother steps forward to save the baby's life by withdrawing her claim.

In the story, Solomon restores the baby to the real mother and everyone swoons at how wise he is. Now, I read that there is a serious back story to this episode. The throne of Israel was empty, and there were several claimants. Solomon was not first in line. He told this story on himself, ostensibly to prove his wisdom, but everyone knew that Israel was the baby, and Solomon was perfectly ready to cut the baby in half before he relinquished his claim to the throne. The men with better claims stepped aside because they loved Israel too much to see it destroyed by civil war.

The mother in the story was ready to give up her claim in order to see her child live. Today we Democrats are struggling to save this nation. We argue among ourselves, but are generally headed the same way. On the other side are the Republicans, perfectly willing to see the nation destroyed if they don't get their way. We view the judicial system as a means of getting justice; they view it as a way of gaining power. We want to try Bush for torturing people; they want to impeach Obama because he's not their guy. When I realize how misinformed and uniformed so many of my fellow citizens are, I realize that there are some fights we have to set aside for now. Even if we won, we'd still lose.

1. That story requiers a just judge.

Not something we have in most positions in society or in the system.

For example, how many times have people 'given up the baby' and then been stepped on.

It can be seen two ways, not only to judge who has the baby, but also to judge if a ruler is just or not.

In my experience, when for better reasons, I take a hit, the people that benefit, just walk away and give another kick, and the unjust judges just let it happen.

Hence why unjust judges must be removed.

How many of us gave up the public option and they made more profits, and gloated over the left voting for it anyways.

How many gave up taxes for bailout and they used it for bonuses for themselves.

If you quote Solomon verse, then you better have his wisdom, or you might just be cut in half. :)

hehe. there is a funny in that also :)

Someone been posting this song.

5. Hey, I don't have to believe there was an actual "Goose that laid the golden egg."
To get some useful information out of the story.
