the Rahm quote strikes me as fiction
I don't know anything about Rattner and I'm not calling him a liar. But people in politics sometimes tell stories, and that's what this sounds like to me.

And it's not an anti-Obama story, it's a pro-Obama story. Here's the story: Obama was tough on the corporations, but he was tough on the unions too. That is something I don't think Obama will have much of a problem with people thinking.

I don't see that as an implausible story. I've seen Obama be tough on corporations: BP for example. I've seen him be tough on unions: Central Falls High School for example.

So it's not implausible, but I don't take it at face value. When I read Rattner's account, I see it as a mixture of what happened and what Rattner wants to make it look like what happened.

4. Obama has been tough on corporations?
When? I guess I must have missed that.

Consider the golden parachute he gave the health insurance companies. Millions of new customers, no cost controls and no competition. It doesn't get much better than that.

And how about the banks? Those new credit card rules that are supposed to help consumers didn't go into effect for ages. Plenty of time for all the banks to raise interest rates, distribute new terms, and maintain their profits.

Those are just two examples, but there are more. Obama has not been tough on corporations at all, if anything he's almost a continuation of Bush.

5. Rahm should deny he said it
If it's fiction.
