Email from Austan Goolsbee just now:
:hi: In case anyone wants to join in later...I've copied and pasted in its entirety:

Good morning,

Millions of our friends and neighbors around the country are looking for work, wondering how they will pay this month’s rent or put food on the table for their families. At a speech in Wisconsin on Monday, the President made clear that turning our economy around is his top priority:

I am going to keep fighting every single day, every single hour, every single minute, to turn this economy around and put people back to work and renew the American Dream, not just for your family, not just for all our families, but for future generations.

At 2:10 p.m. EDT today, President Obama will announce a set of targeted proposals to help our economy continue on a path to recovery during a speech in Cleveland, Ohio. I know many of you have questions about what this Administration is doing to support working families and small businesses who are struggling to get by. So immediately following the President’s remarks, I’ll be hosting a live chat to answer your questions about what we’re doing to help Americans find jobs and to rebuild our economy for the long term.

I’m looking forward to talking with you later today.

Sincerely,
Austan Goolsbee
Council of Economic Advisers

P.S. In case you missed it, you can check out the video of the President’s speech in Wisconsin on Monday where he laid out his plan to put Americans back to work renewing and rebuilding America’s roads, rails and runways:

2. Well I for one need more than a path to recovery.
Some vision of a better future would be nice. Maybe some insight where technology is taking us along with a smattering of a oil free future?

3. I hear you...

We all want specifics now, not merely a vision. Hopefully the administration will be much more specific, clear, and forceful about this path to recovery starting this afternoon.

4. Well maybe for this speech but the gloom feels pretty palpable.

5. Obama has invested heavily in green tech. You can work locally to make it happen in your community.

In my town, we pushed for solar panels to augment the public grid for the past two years and they finally did it this summer. There are solar panels atop telephone poles now. Municipal buildings have been retrofitted with solar grids, thanks to stimulus money. Our public schools are next on our to-do list.

7. That is so awesome....

I know if varies from community to community (and the Republicans have done their best to repress stimulus funds being used in such a helpful manner), but it's so frustrating that the good news isn't more widely disseminated. Even here. :(

Thanks for that. :)

Eco-retrofitting could be HUGE, IMHO.

9. Yeah, I love seeing the solar panels when I drive around town & knowing an OFA group made it happen.

Our town is heavily Democratic and many of the liberal activists who participate in town meetings are members of OFA. I discovered that when I went to both and saw many of the same faces! -- so I wish more DUers would do this. Even Republican towns can be lobbied for this because it's a way to save a significant amount of taxpayer $$ with no downside.

8. I know we have. That is the frustrating thing.
I was so excited to see where our R&D money is going but it was buried in a long piece on the stimulus. I've never heard of these projects on the news or MSNBC or CNN.
