You know, so as to protect the troops. That way the idiot Jones can burn away but it will be just like it never happened. You know, like the massive, massive anti-war protests that were held but either not covered or barely covered.

1. That would be a really really bad idea.
Think the MSM gives him a bad time now? I can only imagine what the reaction would be if he interjected himself into a freedom of the press issue.

5. The media serves up Petraus who says "Don't burn or troops will get harmed" to Jones.
But the prez can't say that to the media to consider as an option.

Who told the press not to cover the anti-war protests?????????????? I'll bet it was the prez at that time.

10. I have no idea whether or not
Bush told the media not to cover the anti-war protests. If he did he was way out of line and deserves to be criticized for it.

14. Of course, we don't know. We just know a HUGE number of people turned out several times
to protest the war and the US didn't hear about it. There was barely a whisper. Now, how does something like that happen? Someone protecting the war's interests did it.

Obama has an uphill climb against the MSM to begin with, why make it more difficult?

4. Better yet he should order them not to cover it, for national security reasons.

8. The fire marshal and local police should deal with it.
Jones does not have a burning permit. If he breaks the law, that should be stopped and he should be arrested, or cited, or whatever.

11. Pointless to block the media
They will put it on youtube and it will go viral in minutes. They don't even need the media, just a cell phone.

13. The anti-war protests NOT covered by US media did not go viral.
Why assume the book burning would?
