Wow! Andy Card just lied and said there aren't many small businesses that make less than $250,000!
Surely, Card could not be that misinformed! Andy Card, President George W. Bush's Chief of Staff, is Morning Joe's guest. Too bad Willie Geist is not there today. Last week Geist called out someone repeating this endlessly GOP flogged 'small bidnessman lie' with the truth--less than 2% of small businesses would be affected by President Obama's plan to tax those earning over $250,000 (at Clinton's old top tax rate o 39.6%).

Only 1.9 percent of taxpayers with small-business income face either of the top two income tax rates. Thus, allowing the 2001 reductions in these rates to expire as scheduled in 2010 would not affect most small-business owners. Strengthening the Earned Income Tax Credit could help more than seven times as many small businesses as extending the reductions in the top rates.

2. Earlier he was bemoaning the plight of the rethugs and how
badly they've been treated for almost 2 whole years.

He's not a legitimate anything imo, but that never stopped schmo.

5. I wish someone would ask Card
what he whispered for 2 seconds in bu$h's ear at 9:05 a.m. on September 11, 2001 in a 2nd grade classroom and why he didn't even bother to wait for a response from his boss.

6. The M$M gets away with it because WE are not loud enough...
By we I mean us the progressives.Where is our anger? How do we show our rage?? Where is a at least a thousand Tweets calling them You Lied ?where are our Dem's? They are great at changing the narrative because we are slow to anger! I remember the night that then Senator O and Senator Clinton were debating on ABC and the calling that went out that night!! Let's use the tools we have... They maybe small but we can at least make a effort... This is just my honest 2 cents worth. Thank you

17. jAlso, there are progressives who are vehemently opposed to giving MJ attention.
They like to give those of us who do watch it intermittantly a bit of grief for "ruining our day." To which I cheerfully say "To each his/her own!"

If we keep informed to what they're saying on these shows, we can refute their lies...but you aren't going to be able to tweet something you don't even know about...

7. They like to confuse people between "income" and "profit".
I remember "Joe the Plumber" making this mistake.

People whose wages are otherwise 100% subject to taxes don't get it that businesses are taxed on PROFITS.

the "taxable income" they are referring to, or am I wrong?

12. Yes. Small business owners pay income tax on net income--profit after deducting expenses.

Net income is calculated by taking revenues and adjusting for the cost of doing business,

13. I am a small business person
and in my small town you can drive down the business section and you will find 3 small businesses that probably makes more than $250 thousand. The business section is 3 blocks long and we are talking approx 60 small businesses. There are only three of these businesses including mine that has been here for more than 25 years. I know all these people. Andy Card needs to get out more.

in the City where I work, there are 5300 businesses. 30% gross less than $50K/year. Next bracket, 35% gross under $150K/year. Of course many of those 30%ers are home based, but they are businesses none the less and that just doesn't jive with those made up stats of his.

18. Yep: Lie first, then claim semantics and statistics...
... when your opponents call you on it by quoting the truth. You can then just paint your opponents as disgruntled, misinformed, biased, whatever.

Why does this make me think of one of those Goebbels quotes?

25. Personal income or Business Profit income?
The CBPP study referenced seems to be referring to personal income - the salary & wages of the small business owner. When this is discussed or used by many, it seems many times to be alluding to the business revenues or profits, which is misleading to many.

26. Heck a lot of big business's don't make $250,000 a year. You can have a market cap of 100 billion
and still not make any profit for the year.
