2. Thank God. Everyone likes Neil. NOT everyone likes Mufi.

Mufi helped kill the superferry.
Mufi's big project was the mass transit train that will never be built but will cost a fortune anyway.
Mufi ruined all the progress Jeremy Harris made before him.
Mufi is a tightwad with an attitude.

Neil is friendly, kind, and everyone likes him. He's served well, though uneventfully, in Congress for many years.

Why does Neil want to be Governor? I think Anoyie (sp?) asked him to do it. The Dems in Hawaii are very messed up. They won't listed to the old guard explain what to do. Instead, they have big egos and bigger ideas that will never happen. The Dems have always had Hawaii, but there are actually some Repubs winning now. Dan is getting old and he controls the party. he's hoping Neil can help clean it up before he has to retire.

The Repub governor, Lingle, has been a disaster. She actually closed public schools on Fridays instead of making the hard choice of cutting programs and raising taxes. She vetoed the Civil Unions bill that the legislature passed - even though everyone knows she has a female partner herself.

I hope the Dems can clean up their act before they lose more ground in Hawaii, though I can't imagine the Repubs ever getting a foothold in Hawaii. Minorities are a majority in this state. It's an example of what the US gov will be like in about 25 years, when haoles are no longer the majority of Americans.
