1. Well, you won't hear Dick Armey tell that to the Tea Partiers
It won't be reported on FoxNews, either.

9. K&R
(Reuters) - The U.S. federal budget deficit in the first half of fiscal 2010 is down 8 percent from the same period a year ago, the Washington Post reported on Monday.

Citing senior Obama administration officials, the Washington Post said in an article posted on its website the smaller deficit was due to higher tax revenue and lower than projected spending to bail out the financial system.

12. MSM spin: "Obama's first budget is the second-largest deficit ever"

No mention that he INHERITED the first-largest... Bush's final one (FY2009).

14. Keith was wrong
First off the White House Spokesperson is saying that it irresponsible to be making deficit projections for the fiscal year as a whole. Second, the administration had initially projected that the deficit this year would hit 1.6 trillion dollars which with respect to the GDP was going to be the worst year ever since world war II. That is really nothing to be happy about.

In short the administration for the first half of this year have been doing better than their own initial projections.

18. Exactly...
This is like cheering because we're torturing less than we did last year.

We're still borrowing $1.3 TRILLION this year, for the war, for tax cuts, for bank bailouts, for AIG, and for the foreign banks.

Not to mention the Feds balance sheet increasing to $2.5 trillion in the last 2 years. We'll have to pay for all that as well.

The treasury issued $91BB in new debt in August. Party on.

20. Not me. I have never watched reality or entertainment shows in my life.
I must be the only adult in the US who has never ever watched American Idol or Dancing With The Stars.

21. haha fair enough. I guess I'm saying that many on DU and elsewhere...
have worshiped and parroted the liberal leanings of Hollywood as gospel for years, and now Hollywood and it's ilk have basically blinded all of America to what really matters in life by "American Idol"-ing us to death.

23. LAST 3 REPUBLICAN PRESIDENTS HAVE ACCOUNTED FOR NEARLY 100% OF OUR INCREASE IN THE NATIONAL DEBT
National Debt

?

Every President, from Truman to Carter, steadily paid down the staggering debt that was run up in our fight against Nazi Germany and Imperial Japan. That pattern came to a screeching halt with Reagan/Bush and Bush. Clinton’s fiscal policy was a brief respite during this orgy of deficit spending.

Clinton balanced 5 budgets, which is 5 times as many balanced budgets as the last 5 Republican presidents combined.

President Obama, like President Clinton, inherited a sea of red ink and a recession from his predecessor. He, like President Clinton, recognizes the importance of getting America back to work and then getting our fiscal house in order.
