My Republican father is absolutely ASHAMED of the Teabaggers in Delaware

I talked with my father, a Delaware Republican since 1968 who is a moderate in most cases, and he is absolutely disgusted with the Republican Party and their alliance with the Tea Party, who are now possibly going to win a primary race with a moderate like Mike Castle against a half-wit who is endorsed by Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity and Sarah Palin.

He fully said that they were WRONG and are empowering the worst in representing his moderate version of the Republican Party. He has been shut out before by those right-wing theocratic extremists who are hell-bent on making that party a marginalized minority.

This is GOOD news for Democrats if Teabagger and Hannity/Limbaugh/Palin supporter Christine O’Donnell wins against Mike Castle. It's already a heavily Democratic state, but if you have halfwits like O’Donnell, loaded with scandals, running against a Democrat, you will lose badly. Even the Tea Party stooges like Dick Armey and the founders of that organization know it's money gone bad.

Mike Castle would be a formidable candidate in the final election if he survives the Teabag assault, which remains questionable with recent polls. He's a rare Republican who is for gay rights, abortion rights and other moderate issues.

But when you have the GOP College Dropout Dumbfuck Loudmouth Trio (Limbaugh/Hannity/Beck) calling for a suicidal victory for O’Donnell, you get a bad candidate for America AND a complete LOSE for Republicans. Add Palin for a complete FAIL. O’Donnell's insinuation that Mike Castle was gay and/or used that as a way to run a campaign message is beyond the tasteful as well as is indicative of how low the American GOP Taliban will go.

My father, who I admire his every word, told me he is ashamed of the likes of outside-state Teabag money and goofy Palin ads funding questionable, unqualified Anti-Choice Theocrats like O’Donnell. She apparently has a long history of financial poisoned history that would sink her in a week. The local Delaware news media has a treasure trove of real estate and other scandals that prove that, like Palin, was not vetted for scandals and money troubles. The bombs are ready to go off if she beats Castle.

My father is a moderate. His wife (my mother) recently passed away and Mike Castle, a long-time family friend, was there at her celebration of her life. Having met him myself, Mike Castle is a wonderful, down-to-earth intelligent man who has experience as Congressman and Governor.

This race, if O’Donnell wins, offers a chance for my father to cross the line and actually vote for a Democrat, like he did in 1966.

8. Friend of mine (a life long republican) sent me an email about a month

ago telling me that he has finally had it with the GOP. He is scared shitless if the repugs take control of the House or the Senate and what they would do to this country. In the Bush years, he started to get disillusioned with the repugs and voted voted for Obama...the first time ever for a democrat. Now, he is really pissed!

The Republican Party slowly started leaving moderates behind long ago, but they have accelerated that move further. Here in California, there are no moderates left, the Congressional, Assembly and State Senate Republicans are hard ideologues. Places that used to be perceptive to Republicans have gone very Democratic, because the party left them behind.

15. I have been seeing anti-O'Donnell ads on the Philly channels for almost 2 weeks.

She seems like a real Palin type, maybe worse if that is possible...I am hoping she will lead to a Democratic win in November as people realise what a bad choice she is.

FWIW, if your dad -or other moderate republicans feel left out, it is because they are - but Obama has been trying to win them over since 2008 - maybe they can see voting for the Democrat this November, since "our" party has become so moderate.
Your dad - and mine-may feel more at home in the Democratic Party than I do right now...
But I will certainly vote for them anyway - there is no other realistic choice.

16. I actually refuse to believe O'Donnell is doing so well

I used to live on Maryland's Eastern Shore, and know Delaware quite well. The national GOP has changed, but I refuse to believe that Delaware has changed that much.

I expect that actual voters will come to their senses. I do hope, though, if the teabaggers do take over the GOP, sensible Republicans will realize there's no room for them inside that narrow tent anymore, and become Democrats, or at least independents.

Tea party-backed Christine O'Donnell has defeated U.S. Rep. Mike Castle in Delaware's Republican primary for the U.S. Senate.

The vote ended a 40-year run of election victories for Castle, thrown off track by a flash of conservative voter anger.

In unofficial returns, with 100 percent of the vote reported, O'Donnell has 53.1 percent of the votes tallied; Castle has 46.9 percent. The tally includes absentee ballots.
