Very much based on *very* sparse sans serif from the 20's to 60's, when multiple immigrant waves benefited from a font that represented characters with as little complexity as possible, but was still "thick" enough to be useful for signage.

40. I'm a font geek too, and I'm sorry to say that this logo is truly awful.

Mixing fonts (serif and sans serif) in the SAME logo, for no apparent reason = major fail. Including the capital D, it looks like 3 different font styles in one logo. That wouldn't fly in a first-semester typography class. You don't mix font styles like that (and I can't see any compelling reason to do it here).

Is it a big deal? Kind of. They paid somebody (a relative, I'm guessing) a LOT of money to design this, and it looks stupid. A missed opportunity for something really good.
