The new DNC website is impressive
Edited on Thu Sep-16-10 09:25 AM by ProSense
You can find the party organization and events in your state.

Here is an interactive map showing the Democratic candidates in each state.

Democrats on the issues.

The site is comprehensive, pleasing to the eye and easy to maneuver.

5. Logos grow on people
When the Obama logo was unveiled, people criticized it because they said it reminded them of Pepsi.

Still, the site is a great tool.

15. I disagree. I think it's sleek, spare, modern, and beautifully symbolic. Very 21st century.
Edited on Thu Sep-16-10 10:31 AM by ClarkUSA
The site is easy to navigate and free of clutter. The blue shades of the logo remind me of the sea, relaxing yet inspirational. It's great for marketing and branding purposes, which the Obama team excels at.

None of the usual red, white, and blue with a donkey tacked on for good measure, which is a bit tired.

23. The site is very good; the logo is bland, corporate, looks like a subway sign.
It isn't distinctive or interesting, and it looks like it was designed by a committee who wanted to come up with something that didn't offend anybody. Still, a logo isn't a big deal.

25. Simplicity is hip now. The logo'll look as cool as a T-shirt graphic as the Obama08 logo did.
Edited on Thu Sep-16-10 12:23 PM by ClarkUSA
People dissed the Obama campaign logo at first, too. And look what happened there.

Anecdotally speaking, I live in a university town. There were OFA groups (we all joined up together from the surrounding area) here that was doing GOTV yesterday and we all like the new logo. We're waiting to buy T-shirts, in fact, so we can recognize each other in a crowd. :)

30. Pissed at how the rollout was handled
because this is a great website that will make it infinitely easier to organize democrats across the country but now all anyone is talking about is how disappointed they are with the announcement. Everyone on here should check out the new site, register and sign up for any events in your area. If all of us get off our asses and do a phone-bank or two we can make such a huge difference this November, seriously tell everyone you know to check out the new site.

31. Sites like DU are discussing it and getting people to look at the website, nonetheless. That's good.

In show business, as in politics, there's no such thing as bad publicity. ;)

Absolutely. My OFA group is sending out emails to everyone in our address books AND we are already planning to stand as a group on the busiest square in this university town this weekend (from 11 AM-3 PM, Saturday and Sunday) to hand out slips of logo-printed note paper to passersby with the website addy and our local campaign HQ phone number.

3. It kind of looks funny to have 2 logos -
and I think I like the "pepsi" one better than the "target". I also have random black dots showing up, but I'm on a new laptop so it could be that I don't have all my flash installed properly.

I did click on my state and the info was there & very easy to use (and not too much information like some sites).

11. "Separate but equal means no contributions from me."
When was the last time you contributed to the DNC?

The platform is strong:

For too many though, this ideal is still far from a reality. Democrats are committed to:

  • Strengthening the Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division to better protect voting rights;

  • Enacting the Employment Non-Discrimination Act, which includes measures prohibiting discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity;

  • Ensuring full civil unions and federal rights for LGBT couples;

  • Repealing “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” in a sensible way that strengthens our armed forces and our national security;

  • Ending racial, ethnic, and religious profiling; and

  • Building a fair and more equitable criminal justice system that provides non-violent offenders a second chance at a rehabilitated life.

28. We all love the platform. The platform is not the problem.
The lack of will to make the platform a reality is the problem.

Here's a bit from the platform that I especially like:
Covering All Americans and Providing Real Choices of Affordable Health Insurance Options.

Families and individuals should have the option of keeping the coverage they have or choosing from a wide array of health insurance plans, including many private health insurance options and a public plan. Coverage should be made affordable for all Americans with subsidies provided through tax credits and other means.

7. I love it. As a former designer
It's clean, it's fresh and it gets to the point with out a load of load time.

As a Dem, it makes all the info I need easily accessible quickly and efficiently.

If the biggest complaint that Dems have is the logo, I say oh well, you will get used to it -- It's a good clean design that raws you right to facts.

Edited on Thu Sep-16-10 09:42 AM by hlthe2b
I can hardly concentrate on anything else, so excited I am after the big unveiling yesterday--and that is after I stayed up all night awaiting the big announcement!

I'm just SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO thrilled!!!!!!!!!!

:sarcasm: It's a website. Well organized... Great. Good job. But can we return to earthly levels of excitation and promotion now? Sorry, Skinner, but the overly hyped way this whole thing was rolled out, sort of asked for this kind of reaction.

and then it turned out to be a bland new logo and a redesigned website -- whoopee. I have to go sit down now, the excitement was just too much.

If something really big was happening, it wouldn't come from Kaine. Still, it seemed a bit overdone.

26. they do about stategy, major staffing changes, funding updates
Each of which could have included information suitable for a "big announcement"...

I don't understand why some DUers are unwilling to admit the roll-out was not handled as well as it could have been. That doesn't negate from the website changes being a good product; nor does it suggest that anyone criticizing is hostile to the party. :shrug:

Even campaigns outside of the U.S. (i.e., Netanyahu and an African-Russian candidate) ripped off everything from T-shirt designs to slogans to websites to logos.

It started out as a fun place, then the trolls quickly took over. The mods never took their job seriously. Once most o the founding group left and the trolls were left to have run of the place, I finally gave up in disgust, came over here and never looked back.

Either you must think it's the most important thing in the history of the United States, or you must abhor it and write long, sarcastic screeds to show just how much you hate it.

No room for middle ground here on DU!
