Yes, Elizabeth Warren is in charge
Greg Sargent

* Yes, Elizabeth Warren is in charge: Administration officials say that her new advisory role will give her full power to build and shape the new consumer financial protection bureau. Liberals cheer, and Chris Dodd weeps.

"This is clearly a disingenuous effort to circumvent the Senate confirmation process and I oppose it," said Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine). "The last thing we need is another 'czar' that is unaccountable to Congress and the American people. This is certainly not what Congress intended when it created this important position."

<...>

Others, such as Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), applauded the president's decision. "The American people are tired of being ripped off by large banks and financial institutions," he said in a statement. "In Professor Warren, they finally will have someone in a position of power who can protect their interests."

2. If she will not have the authority to ENFORCE, she would not be
"someone in a position of power to protect" anybody. Would she?

15. willfull ignorance
Her role is advisory WHILE she builds the agency she will head. How did we get so many "new" democrats without brain pans.

16. Did you see Obama on TV today? He put her role more strongly
than that of a merely advisory one. Of course it still remains to be seen. So far
his words have often been far stronger than his deeds.

Perhaps he'll also beef up his words with more deeds, now that election is so close.
And even he must realize by now that no good could ever come from a bipartisanship
with Neocons.

Where are all the Elizabeth Warren "fans" now? I mean, isn't this GREAT NEWS??? Why aren't there 500 recs for this OP???

Wait.... could it be that because President Obama actually did what so many said he wouldn't do -- i.e., give Elizabeth Warren the job -- and because President Obama did it in a way none of them thought of -- checkmate again, naysayers! -- this means that Warren is not their cat's meow anymore?

11. Checkmate again eh?
If he didn't constantly do the worst people wouldn't automatically assume the worst.

So what's the checkmate counterargument on warrantless wiretaps, indefinite detentions, and the other attacks on civil liberties? Because so far no one ever responds to that question. I'm sure there IS a counterargument. Right?

12. Good.
As long as she's given the ability to enforce regulations, this could actually be a turning point.

14. Sanders summed it up nicely.
Collins bringing up the rear with her special vintage of GOP whine.

Now the shit's about to get real, take it to 'em Ms. Warren!

17. Of course it is an effort to circumvent to confirmation process
That process is being abused so thoroughly that it is disingenuous to complain that it is being circumvented. You don't drive your car if the likelihood is that it will break down, leaving you stranded or causing an accident. You take the bus or borrow your neighbor's car.
