I don't like the way we were sold on his credentials as a law professor, when he's shown no real desire to restore or protect the liberties of whistle blowers, detainees, and the general public who are still subject to universal warrantless surveillance in our private communications.

He is, however, a superb advocate for the property rights of disgraced bankers and billionaires.

we want him to speak in terms like this. When I hear it, I say here's something I can get behind.

But there's no way around the fact that he also needs to give us a reason to believe he means it. I hear him speak in clear terms about the Bush tax cuts and I say Yes! But in the back of my mind I fear the potential upcoming image of him signing a "temporary" extension of all the tax cuts.
