Repuke meme: Obama denies "the Creator" and alters the Declaration of Independence!
Edited on Fri Sep-17-10 10:58 PM by Common Sense Party
Get ready for this, the next Repuke attack meme:

In President Obama's recent speech to the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, he "deliberately" altered Thomas Jefferson's words, and left "by their Creator" out:

But over the centuries, what eventually bound us together -- what made us all Americans -- was not a matter of blood, it wasn’t a matter of birth. It was faith and fidelity to the shared values that we all hold so dear. We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, endowed with certain inalienable rights: life and liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

Expect the Repukes to make a big stink about this: "Endowed BY WHOM?" Etc.

One of my Repub associated mentioned this today. I'm guessing it will be a talking point soon, if it isn't already.

7. It's not difficult. But it would have nothing to do with the subject matter of the OP.

8. You inserted your opinion of the subject matter in the OP. So

do what you want. But it's disingenuous. And you're doing it to get a rise. You got one from me.

Have fun justifying your bs.

11. Good hell! Why don't you just READ?
READ the OP! It's all there. This is the new Repuke meme. It's NOT my opinion of the subject.

15. You provided a link to the WH. I hardly think that was the message
they wanted to send. If you want to 'warn' us, provide a link to those clowns who see it otherwise, instead of your interpretation.

Why don't you just chill out? Same as it ever was with the repukes, but you're spreading rumors with no backup, for no reason as far as I can tell.

Backup is good.

16. My associate said this to me verbally. He did not provide me with a link.
Beyond that, I have no intention of linking to conservative sites here.

Should anyone want to peruse those pages, there are a few who are already picking up on the meme. A simple Google search shows that:

At no point in the quote did he "Deny the Creator."

4. I realize that. And you realize that.
The teabag nutcases and their media shills are going to spin this out of control.

I could be wrong. But they will seize on ANY opportunity to attack him, try to make him seem alien or "different" from "average" Americans, etc.

I suspect they will misspell it in a sign somewhere.

6. I'm just saying, let's be ready. Forewarned is forearmed.
Maybe we can find some instances where Reagan or Palin misspoke and left some things out when quoting from the Declaration or the Constitution.

9. For example, when Limpballs didn't know the difference between the
Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution:

"We love and revere our founding documents, the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence. We believe that the preamble to the Constitution contains an inarguable truth that we are all endowed by our creator with certain inalienable rights, among them life. Liberty, Freedom. And the pursuit of happiness. "

17. Jefferson didn't believe in "a creator" either.
His view, along with Washington and Franklin, was the 18th century version of the big bang.

21. "The God who gave us life gave us liberty at the same time." ????
That implies a belief in a creator.

22. When viewed through a 20th century lens, yes...
But in their belief set, there is no afterlife, no reason for prayer, nor miracles, nor saviors, nor scripture, nor churches, nor religion, etc.

In their view, some mysterious force created the universe, and the laws found within, but since then, has been absent from any direct involvement.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deism

We now call that "The Big Bang".

That was added by a spineless committee.

20. True, but it at least mentioned "nature's god" and that we all come from
"equal creation," which the fundies are going to say implies a creator.

23. He said that our rights derive from our being created equal
It's the line the committee inserted instead about us being endowed by our Creator with our unalienable rights that has given the wackos so much joy.
