Progressives wanted Obama and were absolutely vicious about it in the primaries in 08. They need to quit the bitching and moaning and whining and complaining and back their candidate.

the overthrow of the Dems should be such a huge concern. Other than Lugar (and maybe Cochran-don't know much about him), that's one scary gop who's who.

Everybody who is negative in their outlook will end up looking at it that way.

Neither party will be perfect, so pick the one that is imperfect is a way that you can live with.

Tea Partiers may hear the same thing at times.

12. Ah, Joe Biden, another anti equality voice raised!
Remember how he so joyously agreed with Sarah Palin during the debates that GLBT people should not have equal rights? I sure do. That was some whining and meddling there, he and Sarah P.
There is no whining on Earth like the petulant whine of the offended Church lady and Gent, oh, so upset and clutching at their pearls about matters that are none of their business. There is no whine like the hypocritical whining of those who attack their neighbor's rights for the sake of some text which they themselves break a hundred times before lunch. That is the wailing whine I am sick of, the bigoted screeching of the anti equality twit in a snit.
None of Biden's anti equality centrists are on my ballot we have real Democrats to vote for.

The other chuckle I get is when folks here act like spending all day here is somehow "contributing" and helping the democrats. DU simply is not the center of the universe. And most here have are fairly well read. Those that think they are being so effective with whitty punch lines and insults might just want to get out and work the streets canvassing for Dems. Like I will be doing this weekend.

Armchair warriors are hillarious!

24. I beg to differ...
I understand your point, but spend some time really listening to some republicans running for office. Their idea of taking America forward is nightmarish. If they are given a chance to advance their agenda they will eliminate the middle class, social security, and any sense of fairness in the tax code. They will do their best to make all non-white Americans second class citizens, spend us in to the poorhouse to protect 1% of the population's right to make vast sums of money, and make Christianity the official state religion.

Before making any snarky replies, please visit a few republican tea bagger sites and see how truly frightening their view of America is.

We may disagree on how quickly we can advance a progressive agenda, but at least we agree on the direction we need to go.

27. I have seen and heard the tea bagging "logic".
But I find the lack of denunciation on the part of the Democrats, during the Bush years and now, just as terrifying. I realize that Obama is attempting to steer through our global and domestic debree toward some shelf of sanity.

I just don't happen to believe his plans will deter what I suspect began as soon as he stepped into office:

The wealthy are leaving with half a loaf and drawing up the drawbridge. What is awaiting average Americans is worse than the prospect of tea baggers.

32. Fatalism?
Since you seem to believe the die is cast and the fix is in why bother with politics? Why bother spending time on a political site? Why not move on to other, more personally satisfying endeavors? Of course you have a perfect right to it, but if you believe you/we can't change the outcome - why bother?

Edited on Mon Sep-27-10 11:18 PM by Drunken Irishman
Bob thinks he's the stuff. Really cocky dude that expects to do well in life. Yet Bob never really can settle down. All Bob's friends are getting deep into their relationship and some have even married. But not Bob. No, Bob still remains relatively single for years and years.

His friends ask him why he's not getting married or why he can't keep a relationship and he's quick to answer that there just aren't many girls out there he can see himself with for a lifetime.

Fair enough, right? We all want that perfect match to settle down with.

But then the friends started realizing Bob was breaking up with girls who they actually really liked. One was very attractive and intelligent. She had a nice job and a nice lifestyle. The other was caring and a homebody that would've made the perfect mother to his children. But these girls didn't satisfy Bob.

Years pass and all his friends are married. Bob is in his 50s now and attends his 40th high school reunion. He's the single guy there. He meets up with friends and they ask him if he's married and settled down and Bob has the exact same answer as he did for their 25th reunion - there just aren't many girls out there he can see himself with for a lifetime.

At that point, the friends realize the problem isn't with the girls. It's with Bob!
