Next for GOP leaders: Stopping Palin
Well, it is civil war time for the GOP

Many of these establishment figures argue in not-for-attribution comments that Palin’s nomination would ensure President Barack Obama’s reelection, as the deficiencies that marked her 2008 debut as a vice presidential nominee — an intensely polarizing political style and often halting and superficial answers when pressed on policy — have shown little sign of abating in the past two years.

"There is a determined, focused establishment effort … to find a candidate we can coalesce around who can beat Sarah Palin," said one prominent and longtime Washington Republican. "We believe she could get the nomination, but Barack Obama would crush her."

1. I'm . . . not really seeing who else they're going to get to stop his re-election . . .
I mean, COME on. Romney? Suckabee? Gingrich?

Yeah, let's put the people who caused this mess back INTO power so they can PICK up where they left off. The American voter is crazy, but they aren't stupid. It's going to take at LEAST 2-3 Democratic administrations to fix 30-40 years of unbridled Crapitalism's flotsam and jetsam.

2. I think that many of the RW hate Obama even more now, with all the lies and
crap they've been spewing. They've got them scared as hell, so they may not care who they vote for as long as it's not Obama (and as long as the candidate isn't Black.)

Romney could win... not to depress you, but he could...
Palin would get her ass handed to her. The GOP knows this.

7. Maybe that's what they do--- let her be the 2010 sacrificial lamb
with the hope that a devastating defeat would finally send her back to obscurity. (doubt it would work, but that might be their thinking)

12. The Ameican voter is stupid enough to vote for Palin. There has been a steady trashing of
the President by the media since 2009 January. People are crazy (and stupid) now.

5. They better be careful with Palin or she WILL run third party

6. I think they would do everything possible to convince her not to
run as a third-party candidate. If they can defeat and/or force her out of the republican primaries, they will probably try to buy her off. They'll make all kinds of promises to her, so she can maintain her influence (or the illusion of influence) in the republican party while going back to being a professional media whore.

11. There is only one way to stop her from winning the primaries: Bush.
She is loved by the MSM media and Fox "news". Every word she speaks is broadcast by them and every event is televised. The religious right and the teabaggers love her. Fox "news" employs her and she has that station and its audience loving her.

She can have her own show right through to the election, that's a lot of free TV time to impress her republican Fox "news" audience to support her in the primaries. A lot of candidates owe her for her campaigning for them.

I don't see anyone except Bush challenging her now.

13. They'll just buy her off
Sarah is all about the money. She will blackmail them into paying her some ungodly amount to not run and to support the Republican ticket.
