Jon is always going after the dems for being spineless but then he wants us to be all goody goody and sane...how do you do both???

My only thought is to be more like Rachel...she pounds with the facts but doesn't throw crap around at the other side....

I was asking myself the same question at the rally Saturday. I see both points, Ed and Stewart and KO. That is what is so hard, if we are silent, then what? I get Stewart's point but I still in my own way have to answer to lies and hate from the other side. I wish it could be like Stewart wants, but sadly we are living in a politcal nature that has to be reckoned with. I am sure they all agree on that point, just in different ways.

7. When asked at news conference after rally if he would urge people to vote Tuesday, Stewart said...

"I think people should do what moves them. That's not my place to make that choice for them. That's theirs."

He might have said that in a representative democracy, citizens ought to educate themselves and vote. Our system is truly broken, and the only way to fix it is public financing of federal campaigns--something President Obama supported as a senator, but has said not a word about since he came president.

Stewart, however, is essentially saying, 'F*ck it!' I find that very discouraging.

8. He at least should have told the young people to exercise there vote he said nothing

about Tuesday maybe because it really doesn't effect him except a tax cut because he is in that 2% tax bracket.

Stewart talks mostly about politics. I doubt anyone 18 to 34 would understand any of his show unless they were already voting or at least had any concern about politics. My concern is with young people that pay no attention at all.

I see such despair in some younger people who are just barely keeping their heads above water. It seems like they have given up, at a much too early age. It's sad...but they do respond to the repuke's messages that tap into their hopelessness...

the event knew what was going on and what Stewart meant. Get over yourself, or stomp out of the building pouting again.

12. I'll admit I get it a little

I was at the rally, and I thought it was great. On the other hand, I really do wish that, with all those clearly engaged people there, Jon had said, "Vote. I won't tell you who to vote for, but vote. It's your right. Don't sit back and wait for the system to fix itself."

That failure to at least encourage some kind of action - regardless of political beliefs - disappointed me. I had hoped for more on that front.

But I"m still happy that he and Colbert put the rally out there. At least I know people are engaged, and I can only hope others are out there like me who want to fix the system, not just lament the fact that it's all screwed up.

Jon's a comedian--if it really didn't bother them, they should just roll their eyes and continue on with their day.

I like Ed, but let's face it, he's a screamer/ranter (ditto for Olbermann), which is what Stewart is railing against.

The rally left me scratching my head on Saturday, and has gotten to bug me the more I've thought about it.

And I'm gen-x. We perfected the art of meh and ennui, and still think that the rally was a wasted opportunity.

When Obama derides these same people---Ed, KO and others on the political left---the Admin is the bad guy and bashing the people who voted him in. Stewart now is bashing the exact same people---and he has a lot of political clout if we take the Rally for Sanity seriously. Actually Stewart needs to be taken to task. Look, Stewart is in the same boat and does the same thing they do it, just because he spins it as comedy doesn't make it any more different.


There are people playing two sides here and I think there's a level of hypocrisy here.

complaining and whining. Can't get your agenda passed immediately you decide to jump ship, let's see what's in store for you with the other side in charge. I'm sure your agenda's will flow

MSNBC may lean left, but they used facts and truths to back up what they have to say.
