On the eve of the election, I do not see gloom and doom. Here's why:

Democrats are turning out in high numbers for this mid-term election. That's now an established fact. Early voting is going our way. Republicans have shot their wad early and we continue to keep showing up to the polls and voting. Every day that passed was a day in our favor.

The lack of cell phone polling makes the establishment poll numbers skewed. That's a fact.

Young people are once again, bucking the conventional wisdom, and are actively participating in this election, establishing a very positive trend. And that's not good news for the GOP.

Latino voting is up this year again. The GOP attempt to suppress their votes has failed.

LBGT Americans are not thrilled with the GOP, but will be showing up overwhelmingly and voting Blue.

The GOP and their Tea Party crowd are at each other's throats.

Democrats have far better and longer established GOTV organizations on the ground.

Finally, I expect another "Reverse Bradley" effect, where a citizen will say one thing publicly and vote another way privately. They may tell a pollster that they are pissed off, and they may tell everyone around them they are voting Republican, but when they are alone, they may do just the opposite as reason prevails.

Americans have not forgotten who caused the economic mess. Americans are not in love with the Republican Party. It is just delusional to believe so.

We will still control the Senate and not by a slim majority either. And we may be able to still hold on to the House of Representatives.

We are the majority. Don't forget that.

Stop the with the gloom and doom and get out the vote where you can help.

The next 24 hours favor us. We are the majority party in America. Let's show them we are.

It's that the Repugs will steal the election (again). I truly believe they LET Obama win because they knew they'd fucked up so bad, they wanted someone else to come in and take the responsibility for the utter disaster they had created with the economy. They got what they wanted - massive transfer of wealth from middle & lower class income earners to the top income earners. Now that Dems are taking the heat for what the Repugs made happen, they'll come back in and start over again wtih deregulation and privatization. they know Obama wants peace with them and that he won't fight hard against them, so his presidency isn't that big a road block. They will also do their best to steal the election in 2012. The only thing we can do is make the wave so big that maybe they'll be deterred or we will be able to provide proof of their theft?

The media has been pathetically obvious in its chorusing to create a reality of its own choosing, and even if one discounts a bit of the impetus for it as simply wanting a "good story", the thin shellac of "impartiality" is ridiculous even to the casual observer.

What's interesting is the look in the eye of some of the more savvy and cynical right-wing hacks like Candy Crowley: they're rather wobbly in their resolve; its not 1994.

Regardless of what happens, the Republicans are in chaos and if emboldened, they'll show their true ugliness for all to see. The frightening possibility is what economic tumult they might precipitate with their blinkered greedfest at a time of peril; their one effective tool is always the amplification and channeling of fear and resentment, and if they drive us over the cliff, who knows what hay they can make of it.

It's far from a foregone conclusion who holds power when the smoke clears, and if they eke out some slim or a bit thicker-than-slim majority in the House and then go on the cocksure asshole crusade that Junior did, they're in for a serious comeuppance. The economy is fragile right now.

It's hardly the end of the world, but we're definitely in for tough times. We would have been anyway.

In a chickenshit sort of way, it gives us cover for the crap to come: even if they don't take the House, their obstructionism and atavism will look very bad, and it couldn't happen to a nicer bunch of fellas.
