Record Election Turnout Expected


Election turnout expert Michael McDonald projects that a record-breaking 90 million people will cast ballots in the 2010 midterm elections.

First Read: "McDonald, who bases his projections on early voting data as well as trends in individual states, calculates that turnout will be about 41.3 percent of the eligible voting population. That's comparable to the population that turned out in 1994 (41.1 percent of the eligible population) and the highest share since at least 1982."

Studies show that low voter turnout favors Republicans and high voter turnout favors Democrats, so if you are a Republican you should stay at home.

If all us Democrats actually do the right thing. I have read here posts asking if they should hold there nose and vote for a blue dog or the pug??? (Or not vote) HELLO????????????To me, its a no brainer. I would vote for fucking Blanche Lincoln (obviously preferred Halter) if I had that choice... In my particular case, I get to vote for Jerry and Ms. Boxer and for grass but I also have to vote for Jane bleeding Harmon even though I preferred Winograd in the primary.

My point is I hope to god that my way of thinking is prevalent today and the Dem's vote Dem because if we don't we are fucked as a country, despite what Joey the Ladykiller and fucking Peggy No-One is spewing forth as I write this. We will know soon ladies and gents... Good Luck to us.

ability to turn out the vote with fear mongering and race baiting. Hence I am questioning the high turnout is always good for the Dems theory. Of course muslin fear was still at record levels in 04... so theres that caveat.

We do not even have a state-wide election but there was a steady stream of voters at my polling place this morning. Our congressional race is not competitive as we have a gerrymandered safe Republican district. Somehow I doubt that people are so pissed off that they throw out a reactionary waste of a congresscritter for a conservative Democrat. Maybe people are excited about the town council race.
