(Reuters) - President Barack Obama said on Monday he should not have used the word "enemies"
(Reuters) - President Barack Obama said on Monday he should not have used the word "enemies" to describe his political opponents as Republicans sought to make an issue of the comment a day before congressional elections.

Obama, in an interview with talk radio host Michael Baisden, said, "I probably should have used the word 'opponents' instead of enemies."

He was backtracking from a comment he made a week ago in an interview with Univision radio in which he sought to persuade Hispanics to vote for Democratic candidates instead of Republicans...

1. You should never apologize in politics
Because your enemies will not accept it anyway, the people in the middle will just think you are a weenie and your own supporters will feel like you sold them out.

Like Dick Durbin blubbering on the Senate floor apologizing for telling the truth about the Iraq War.

4. Obama has his base. What he needs are the moderates to vote with him.

"his" political opponents as "Enemies"? No.

This is one of those stupid stories where the media just completely ate up the Republicans spin and regurgitated it back out. Even Ed started his show tonight by saying "the President called Republicans his enemies".

Actual quote: "If Latinos sit out the election instead of, 'we're going to punish our enemies and we're going to reward our friends who stand with us on issues that are important to us' -- if they don't see that kind of upsurge in voting in this election, then I think it's going to be harder," Obama had said. (Harder to pass Comprehensive Immigration Reform.) OMG!!

It's good he said "nevermind" because the press was just pushing the Republican line. It was a no win situation.

Morning Joe even used it as an excuse to dredge back up the "clings to guns and religion" crap. I believe Scarborough followed it up with (paraphrasing) "the President calls rural Americans his enemies". WTF. Pathetic. And this is just MSNBC.

6. But they have become enemies, those un-named corporations & billionares that..
are funding this attack on his administration and his political party. They crossed the line and are throwing everything into seeing as they said he is a one term POTUS. Now I ask you how can faceless people who seek to destroy him not be the enemy.
