(are dems taking this for granted because of the polls?)
Democrat Chris Coons voted early this morning at Highlands Park Elementary in Wilmington, along with his wife Annie and three children Maggie, Michael and Jack.
In the exact same spot U.S. Rep. Mike Castle spoke to cameras on primary day, Coons took only a few questions after casting his ballot before setting off on a cross-state tour to greet voters at polling places.
He said at the time he was confident that voters would turn out to support him today, adding that 1,000 volunteers across the three counties were participating in his get out the vote drive.
But a message of confidence isn’t coming from his campaign. At about noon, Coons’ campaign manager Christy Gleason sent an e-mail to supporters warning of low turnout in New Castle and Kent counties.
“The data we're seeing is showing lower turnout in New Castle and Kent counties than we're comfortable with,” she wrote in the e-mail. “This election is too important to sit back and see how it turns out. We need your vote, and we need you to get your friends out to vote too
