I expected close to a total red sweep this election though.

Jim Moran belongs to the Progressive Caucus. He's a Dem for sure and not afraid to be considered progressive.

When VA dems run as conservadems they seem to end up losing. Warner and Kaine got lucky and were able to capitalize on anti-GOP sentiment. Webb got lucky because George Allen is an idiot. But Webb is a serious conservadem, as is Deeds (and he lost).
