We had so much going against us that we should have been slaughtered tonight. Instead we held on to the Senate and we kept it close in the house.

The message was very clear tonight - the lunacy of the Tea Party was what brought down the republicans tonight. They should have easily won the congress but instead they allowed idiots like Sarah Palin to push out her favorites instead of sticking with those who would clearly win. Sure the Tea Party did win a few races in some states that were safe. But they turned over the senate the moment they embraced people like O'Donnell, Raese and Miller.

I think Chris Coons is going to make an amazing senator but what's funny about him is this - he was just the token democrat to run against Castle. Democrats here in Delaware knew it was an uphill battle; hell even Beau Biden wouldn't run against Castle.

Now Chris Coons is a US Senator and the Republicans can thank the Tea Party for their antics costing them the senate.

And btw we're gonna be fighting back hard in 2012!

... shit, at least in 1994, the GOP had a freakin' plan they ran on. A shitty plan, but a plan. The Contract with America was idiotic, but at least they had something to point to. This year? They had NOTHING. And people, by all counts, KNEW they had nothing. And still they voted for them in droves. It's so depressing to be confronted again and again with the stupidity of people voting against their own best interests. I see it in my own family. They bitch about all the politicians, but then they pull the lever for the GOP. It just kills me.

13. Keeping nominal control of the Senate with 51 to 53 votes is no big victory.

The GOP will have enough votes to filibuster almost anything now even if the Dems can pick off a GOP senator or two such as the two ladies from Maine or Scott Brown. By any objective measure, we got slaughtered.

We learned our lesson tonight - to take the radical right seriously, and to fight them. I am proud to be a Delawarean today, and I am still proud to be a Democrat.
