1. I voted for it.....
but when my 20 year old daughter, who ain't no saint, said she wasn't supporting it, I figured that proposition was doomed.

7. Well, if you don't care, why would you vote against it? It speaks more to personal
freedom, and I KNOW the legal growers that provide to dispensaries were against this Prop, for obvious selfish fucking reasons. I thought we had some sense, but I suppose not.

Fairly few see recreational weed as a human right.

Yes, DU is an odd place when it comes to weed. I have never met so many pro-marijuana people in my life as I've met here.

Let me say, I don't think that is a bad thing, just out of the ordinary.

I'm not surprised it failed. The messages about marijuana we have been receiving since the 50s have sunk into our psyches.

5. Pot smokers also break laws.
used to be that to get the drugs you broke laws. You don't even have to now but you guys insist on doing other illegal things.

8. "You guys" insist on doing other illegal things? For the record, I'm in AZ and have no "legal"
recourse (yet), but by all means, lump us in with rapists and murderers. :eyes:

15. You'd LOVE our Governor Jan Brewer. She'll lock everyone up no matter HOW minor
(or contrived) the offense so that her close advisers that own private prisons can profit off of it. Yeah! Police state!

Eh, nevermind... arguing with the clinically moronic just hurts my brain...

13. People who don't smoke pot break laws
Lets demonize all of them too! Just a display of ignorance...kinda sad to see here.

Anyhow I can explain why prop 19 lost. The president, the governor-elect, both senators all opposed it. They also chose the wrong year. Try again in 2 years when more young people are voting for Obama, and it will have a better chance.

22. what the fuck are you talking about? You're bordering on incoherence
Not a goddamned word from you about stereotypical stoners. I can't even make out what the fuck your sentence structure is supposed to be comprised of. Let's diagram:

...used to be that to get the drugs, you broke laws. OK, I think I get that part. Before medical marijuana was legal in the state, all pot was illegal, ergo, we were breaking laws.

Second sentence: other illegal things? What are you talking about? If it's the candy bar, that was in the 4th grade, and it was a long time ago. Short of that.......???? what are you even trying to say?

6. We have some northern counties where illicit weed production is the major income base
the growers weren't supportive of this measure, and many others thought it was poorly crafted.

I voted for it.

Making money. Illicit weed. Not getting caught. Do I have that right?

14. Hey you!
Yeah, you got it babylonsis. Several of our northern counties simply no longer have the economic base once provided by the lumber industry (and haven't for some time). The amount of acreage under production is pretty high, and it is definitely keeping some of those counties afloat.

Plus, as you suggest, there's a LOT of money in it.

My uncle used to be the Federal Forest ranger in Mad River, Gasquet, and some other areas up there. He passed away last year, but he definitely could have given ya some insight as to how "things work" up there.

 back atcha'. Did you get your morning coffee heart? :D

You sweetie, you keep me cranked up with that coffee! It's so nice to see you here tonight after so long adrift w/o you!

So, the true money makers don't want this to pass, the alcohol industry doesn't, what's a person to do?

18. That coffee should still be there!

...might be a bit cold by now. :D

I don't know how we will ever resolve the pot issue here. There are many conservatives who opposed it on their usual hypocritical grounds (pot evil/alcohol fine), and many progressives who thought the proposition was poorly crafted, and would only create further problems.

My BIL was concerned that the feds would withhold grant money if we passed it; I don't know how widespread that feeling was, but it must have been making the rounds in some circles if he was saying it.

I think it also may have been hampered by the fact that posession of an ounce, or less, was just recently reduced from a misdemeanor to an infraction; a ticket for $100, and you're free to go.

I voted for it for a lot of reasons, just as it was opposed for many reasons.

Drop me a line on the FB and let me know how things are going. I keep you in my prayers and good thoughts. :)

30. Price would have fallen 90%
That's what I heard on a news talk radio show the other day, and this was by a public finance expert. That 10% price INCLUDES the taxes that would be imposed. So yeah, I can't imagine the growers were for it.

29. From a pargamtic POV...
pot is illegal, demand is high, price rises. More money to be made, more killings along the border as groups try to squeeze the others out. By keeping pot illegal, the people of this nation actually add to carnage, and fill prisons w/people convicted of possession...in the mean time, other die grisly deaths and money flows over the border by he truckload.
