One reason why Democrats lost as much as they did tonight.....?
Because when you have all media (Left and Right)
bashing an assortment of Democrats consistently for months and months,
it makes even Republicans look good.

1. Because Obama kept using this word:
"Bipartisanship"

It doesn't work, when you're dealing with psychos.

2. Only 8% of Americans knew Obama gave 95% of them a tax cut
A lot of voters seem to think he raised their taxes.

5. There was so much misinformation, the reading of GOP talking points,
the smearing of this President, and name callers on all sides.....
how could we win? It was impossible....

They took the President's microphone away....and we just sat there,
while they talked about him, and instead we watched him on-line,
and didn't raise any hell about it anywhere.

We are very sheepish.

22. And who was making the countervailing arguments?
The president spent 18 months legitimizing Republicans and 6 months hoping that voters would support Democrats. You can blame the media, but the Whitehouse is a bully pulpit if the guy in charge wants to make use of it and knows how. Mr. Obama once said he admired Reagans success as a change agent. The Reagan Whitehouse was all about spin. You have to control the rhetoric. Mr.Obama has not done that.

28. Remember when Bush made , or wanted to make, something happen?
He'd have Dicky on Meet The Press, Rice on Face the Nation, Rumsfeld on Fox news and on and on. Can Obama not do something like that?

3. Remember the old saying....doing the same thing
over and over an expecting different results each time. Well if that bipartisanship didn't work the first two times he should have quit.

6. it didn't matter......
because we no longer have a real news department.

Obama was elected promising to work in a bipartisan way...
(A lot of it started in his 2004 Convention speech),
but the GOP, all media and everyone else, including Dems,
had a change of heart about this promise of his,
and told him to go fuck himself.

27. I couldn't have said it better- Kudos!!! You cant "work with these peOple"
PERIOD - THEY ARE PSYCHOS!!!

Unfortunately Obama didn't get it.

and I sure hope he or his staff reads some of these threads- FOR GOD"S SAKE!!!! GET A CLUE!!!

Boehner, McConnell et al will NEVER work with DEMS - they are the scorched earth party.

We need to fight back and challenge them like FDR did.

Doesn't anyone in the administration listen to Thom Hartmann or Randi Rhodes?? they both have been playing excerpts of FDR's response to the same crap we are hearing in 2010 - and he didnt back down - he challenged the SOBs.

LISTEN TO FDR AND LEARN OBAMA!!!!

7. No one knew Democrats Accomplishments AND Obama's obsession with Appeasment weakening Bills
and getting 0 votes for that appeasement...and hence we got lousy reform which ended up coming back to bite us e.g. INsurers hiked prices just before election to make voters know democrats failed.

12. Obama admitted the first part of your statement and that's where I thought Dean would've done better
...was in messaging. People didn't know because dems didn't the right message to tell them, it'd be a good thing if Tim Kaine goes away now.

10. Oh, please. Its bad enough. I don't give a damn about Obama. He wasn't on the ballot and the GOP put
him there anyway . I may have cast my last vote. I am not sure there is any point to voting any more. This is a very sad day and one that did not hsve to that did not have to take place.

11. I attribute the losses to one main cause---9.6% unemplyoment
and that is only the official number.
It does not include those who have stopped looking,
those who are working in jobs below their skill level,
and those whose unemployment benefits have expired.

So there are probably 20 to 25% structurally unemployed.
Then you consider close relatives & friends of these people,
and that easily explains why the votes were cast against
the party in charge. People are scared!

14. We could've had -29% unemployment but when you lose the message like dems did what difference would
...it make when your opponent can define that number as "not good enough" and you let them?

KKKons control the message with coordination, Obama admitted himself that people didn't know their accomplishments...that is a lack of messaging.

19. Agreed.
It's not that Dems can't message, it's that they've lost control of their own message, because it's either not reported or it's distorted by the media.

Americans are not stupid; they're miseducated and brainwashed.

Reality is now overshadowed by emotional manipulation and spectacle created by a media largely controlled by the right.

23. It was just so almost perfect for the repugs!!!
I can't stand their ass. But its just time for more of the truth to come out on their ass. As soon as they took control of letting them steal again, they dumped money into the fed. Fuck them. They used there money to inflate everything and make everything line up. The polls, newspapers, and media. It is either that or that every ethnic background stayed at home. Everybody the repugs fucked over suddenly got amnesia. Everybody was so mad at the President they chose the republicans over him. And in two years after eight with bush and twelve with his father and reagan.after clinton and job growth, even though Nafta was fucked up, just can't buy it. I see it but I know how corrupt, and hard core money enthusiast the repugs are. And you had some Dems right along the same path.

24. Not only that....
Just an observation...

My local paper's OP/ED section carries a regular Left/Right feature, hosting a variety of well-known columnists. "The Right" column, as expected, complained about Democrats/Obama week after week. The "Left" column, on the other hand, ALSO complained about Democrats/Obama week after week.

This went on for the better part of the year just. like. that.

This loss is no mystery, whatsoever.

25. There's only one reason: because the Democrats' political strategy failed.
If you lose politically, it's because you employed a losing political strategy.

They lost because of the media? Then their strategy for handling the media failed.

They lost because of the Republicans? Then their strategy for handling the Republicans failed.

They lost because of Jane Hamsher and Cenk Uygur? Then they need to find another job that doesn't involve politics.

Whatever reason you choose, the fundamental, undeniable cause of the Democrats' losses is that their strategy for winning was a failure.
