Congratulations Harry! now it's time for you to give up the Majority Leader position
Harry, you're a nice guy and I'm glad you won. I think you are a good senator, but as a Majority Leader you don't have enough spine. We need a son of a bitch as Majority Leader. Somebody who will look the GOP in the eye and tell them to go to hell. President Obama needs somebody strong as Majority Leader because he will be more moderate and will talk of compromise so that he can win back the independents in 2012. It will be the old "good-cop, bad cop" routine. Obama is the good cop who is earnestly interested in including the GOP while the Senate Majority Leader is the bad cop who will keep the Senate Dems in line and play hard ball with the GOP Senators. Harry, we don't need two good cops. So, arrange to get a top committee chairmanship and hand over the reins of the Senate Majority Leader to someone who can go toe to toe with the GOP--maybe somebody like Charles Schumer?

6. I think Tip was actually the Speaker of the House and not Majority Leader.

8. that is true
However, I still think we need someone like Tip O'Neill. He was a powerful man and everyone sure as hell knew who he was, no ifs ands or buts about it! :)

2. Why wait for him to give it up? Can't it be given to someone else...who might actually be effective

4. No way would he do that. His position is probably why he got reelected.
Enough people in Nevada realized he was in a much more powerful position to help Nevada than Angle would ever be.
