2. That sounds like an excuse
Why do you need your views and the President's views to match in order to fight?

5. Fight for what? What exactly are we fighting for?
The president just said we need to find common ground and do a better job of building consensus, so I guess I'm fighting for that. Not really sure what that is...

13. The President
was talking about between Democrats and Republicans in Congress.

What exactly does that have to do with you fighting?

9. It's in Boner's court
If Boner continues the Party of No approach, then there's not really anything on which to reach consensus. It would be like trying to dance with someone who didn't want to dance.

However, if The Boner acts on the words which came out the other side of his face, then The Boner is going to push for tax cuts, nuclear, and, umm, that's about it. Otherwise I expect it to be more Party of No. I really don't see The Boner coming out on DADT.

The really dispiriting thing will be if Obama turns into Clinton.

6. NEVER EVER give up!
No way. I haven't given up in the 40 years that I have been involved in the movement, no way will I give up now. There's just so much that can be done.

7. No
Never. There are not enough of us. The right never gives in, no matter how far they are from their goals.

We get second guessing and undermining for not getting 100% in a short time.

It's frustrating, and certanily does not win over the centrists/independents needed to win elections.

11. I won't give up ... never ... but ...
I'm discouraged that our side can't see the forest for the trees.

In 2000, we didn't get behind Gore. We missed the big picture. And we got 2 wars, 2 terrible supreme court justices, and wealth redistribution to the richest people on the planet creating a huge debt that the GOP now blames on Obama and the Dems, with media help.

So, we win the House in 2006, and then the Presidency and the Senate in 2008. The GOP blocks everything after. Even as the economy is falling apart, they don't care. But that is not what upsets us.

Obama ends up in a situation where he's the doctor of a front line MASH unit, not trying to just save limbs, but save lives. And the patient goes "Lieutenant Dan" on him (Forrest Gump reference). Apparently, the patient did not want to be saved. Obama should have let "Lieutenant Dan" die on the table, or in the woods.

The right cheers every small victory, they want a mile, but they will take an inch, and call it a mile.

We want ten miles, and are discouraged when we only get a mile.

We need to think strategically, and long term. The right wing conservatives started their "movement" back in the 70s, and they do not get discouraged, and they won't give up, until they can make laws telling you what a woman can do with her body, that being gay is illegal, and that you must attend church services in their sanctioned churches, and also in the public schools.

And while they do this ... well paying jobs will continue to vanish, until we are all serfs, taking common dinner at the local church gathering.
