Conn SOS declares Malloy winner...sore loser Foley won't concede.

HARTFORD — — Dannel Malloy has won the election for governor, and there will be no statewide recount, Secretary of the State Susan Bysiewicz announced this afternoon.

Bysiewicz said unofficial election results showed Malloy, the Democrat, defeated his Republican opponent, Tom Foley, by 3,103 votes out of more than 1 million cast, above the threshold of 2,000 or fewer that would trigger an automatic recount.

Nancy Wyman, the state comptroller, won the lieutenant governor's job and will preside over the state Senate.

This morning, Malloy had anticipated Bysiewicz's announcement. "After a long night I am confident that when the secretary of the state certifies the results of the election Nancy Wyman and I will be declared the winners, and that a recount will not be necessary," he said in a statement released by his campaign.

I hope Target got insurance on the money it spent - it was a waste, both in the election and in public relations - I've stopped shopping there and it does add up across the country when folks stick by their beliefs

all that halloween candy, continued holiday decorations, dog food, regular food & home goods, medicines, etc - all money going elsewhere now

4. Foley is an idiot. Malloy won big in Bridgeport, New Haven and Hartford.

Foley can't overcome that. His strongholds were counted long ago. It was Malloy that waited all night to see what Bridgeport's #'s would be and the city delivered despite the lack of ballots. Foley is toast and we have our first Dem Gov. in 20 years!

8. The day before the CT primary, Ned was quoted in the NY Times saying

he really didn't want to be a senator, anyway. He said he was really cut out to be a governor.
As a lowly volunteer for him in his 2006 run for the Senate, I was pretty outraged at his statement. Also, he ran a lousy campaign for gov in the primary, IMO. Hubby voted for him. I voted for Malloy because I think he's tough and seasoned. Ned just seemed like he was a kid going out for a new sport team...I like him as a person and as a liberal but I just thouht he didn't have the toughness and frankly the discipline to go fight in Hartford.
