The damn problem are stupid SWING and INDEPENDENT voters.
How in the hell do you throw out the GOP in 2006 and 2008 and then decide to vote for them again in 2010?

It is stupid that some people can switch their vote so easily.

So some voters hated the GOP in 2006 and 2008 and thought the dems and Obama had the answers and then last night said they want the party that they hated in 2006 and 2008 again?

I do not see how someone can change their mind that fast unless they really do not have a mind to begin with!

like Green party or Peace & freedom party or libertarian...

i wonder how many of those voters even cared that they were throwing away the vote, and then the rethuglican gets the majority...

2. BECAUSE THEY ARE PISSED!
We didn't give them jobs or an economy that worked. Our party was in charge, and it felt their wrath. Had the parties been switched you'd have seen the wingers get pasted just as bad. This wasn't about ideology, this was about people who feel like their futures are gone.

6. Good post.
Many non-political voters feel that way; and why not. Yes, this administration has accomplished a lot in a very heated climate, but most Americans haven't (yet) seen the big changes they had hoped for. Americans are fickle, they want instant gratification, but who can blame them when a lot can't even put food on the table or find a job.

12. "Who can blame them" for putting the Republicans back in power?
Are you seriously only giving the Democrats 20 months to make everything right again?

I agree that people should be pissed, but putting the people back in power that caused their situations is just dumb.

14. No
But for a lot of those people, that's how they see it. They want quick fixes. When they didn't get it, they voted the party in power out. Those are the voters we're dealing with. We need to do a better job of getting them to understand how the process works.

But when neither materialized, they went back to the party they voted for before: Rethugs.

Edited on Wed Nov-03-10 03:02 PM by Fresh_Start
why don't you get the democrats out to vote first. Supposedly, they are already on the right side.
In my county turnout was only 42% of registered voters....whereas I saw lots of GOP leaning counties with 70+% turnout.

9. Just curious why can't they get themselves out to vote?
I don't need anyone to tell me to vote. Anyone who does not vote unless begged to doesn't have any real principles either - we don't know what side they'd be on. Maybe we're "getting out" some Republican votes.

16. apparently the majority of people don't vote
I don't think its a matter of principles at all.
I grew up in an entirely apolitical household.
Discussion of religion, politics, and peoples' money was frowned upon: real old fashion, traditional values.

Yes, there are some nuts swinging from side to side, but I think this election is simply the result of who turned out to vote.

8. It's true and I hate there are so many of them!
We have no idea what they want - well, they don't either, except that they want to be "above it all" and not sully themselves by taking an actual stance on anything or join a party. Yet they get to decide who goes into positions of power.

20. " We have no idea what they want -"
They want *JOBS* -NOW-, LOW taxes, preferably zero for anyone making under several million a year, and zero threat of terrorism, no matter how many brown people with funny names people have to die beyond our borders.

They don't want to see the homeless, have to press '1' for English or anyone telling them what kind of car to drive. And stay away even *talking* about taking their guns!

Two years is all ANY party gets, no matter how messed up the situation they come into. It's like playing football or basketball, you've got the time and number of people you have, you win or lose with that. Whining about only having two years "but Bush screwed things up so bad...wah wah wah" is like trying out for the NFL and then crying about how big and violent the other people are, or stepping into a boxing ring and then bitching about people hitting you.

24. Is this all some game or real life?
"They" need to grow up, for crying out loud. No, they don't get to make a 2 year limit like a 2 minute period in a football game. This is real life, not a football game.

If they want "jobs" then why did they vote for Republicans, who will just outsource "their" jobs.

Oh, they are so superior and above it all. They don't like politics. Yet they have these demands - give me a job! Hilarious. What hypocritical fuckers!

Bullshit. "They're not as dumb as you think." is a cop out.
They willfully put the people back in charge that caused their loss of jobs in the first place. There is no way you can define that as anything but dumb.

They voted in a president and party who was either too naive or too scared to take on the Rethugs full bore. So, since they did not receive delivery of what they were promised, those swing voters either swung back or stayed home.

LOW information voters. Ads, mailers get their attention for a few seconds and their minds are fixed. In CA voters passed Prop 25 getting rid of the hated 2/3 requirement to pass a budget, Then, on the next line, voted FOR Prop 26(heavily financed by multinational corporations) which requires a 2/3 vote to raise taxes. The corp funded 26 had heavy airplay w/ persons concerned bout rising taxes during a recession and job loss. Passing 26 ensures California will now have deficits beyond 2014 - current projection.
