We didn't do all that bad in the Senate

A lot of people thought the Democrats were in danger of losing the Senate, but at the end of the day, it looks like we lost 6 seats and the Republicans gained 5. Lisa Murkowski it looks like will win in Alaska, meaning that she'll be freer to vote her conscience (and hopefully she has one). In fact, in the 1994 drubbing of Democrats, the Democrats lost 8 seats.

At best, it means less bad than it could have been.

But it's still bad.

Losing a football game by two touchdowns is less bad than losing by seven touchdowns.

But it's still bad.
