Just curious, now that the House is being controlled by the Republicans
but the Senate has majority Dems, would it affect the President continuing with his Agenda of progess?

We all know that some Dems vote with Republicans, but how would this affect the Obama administration in terms of getting progressive values through!

1. Why would the Obama admin want to get progressive values through?
They are centrist to right wing at best.

Most of his policies are very similar to the chimp's.

4. It is not worth arguing with them. Their hate is too much and if we stoop
to their level, we will become just like them!

7. Oh, I'm awake.
Torture and rendition continue.

Bradley Manning is locked up, while war criminals are free.

Everything is secret. (Executive Privilege demands everything be kept secret.)

Wars continue. Funding brutal mercenaries continues. Predator strikes against innocent civilians continue.

Illegal wiretapping continues.

Chasing potheads and turning them into criminals continues.

The BP oil gusher response was, and still is a gigantic clusterfuck. We have been lied to from the very beginning, and it continues to this day.

Note: I don't have a fucking TV. I haven't had one for years. None of my friends watch fucking TV.

I'm not the one who needs to wake up.

10. so when is your acceptable deadline for all being right with the world?
I don't like how the system works either. But that is what it is and has been in different degrees for centuries. Might makes right, keep the rabble just hungry enough. etc etc

but give a guy a bit more friggen time to undo what basically is human greed and imbalance of power between the haves and have nots for eternity.

Do yourself a favour and watch this Rachel show.

you won't see much like this in the great free press you think you have, but you will see much of the opposite.

22. When did I say I think we have a great free press?
Our press is 97% right wing propaganda.

As far as schedules go, if I was the person being tortured, I would like it to stop right away. How about you?

There is no excuse for continuing the chimp's brutal policies.

5. if you deduct the loss of 22 blue dogs, who weren't really Dems anyway...
the win/loss equation becomes a little less lop-sided. Frankly, I don't foresee a huge change from the results of the obsessive obstructionism of the last two years. Hopefully the president will stop being so conciliatory. Those three hundred or so bills that were passed by the House could breeze through the Senate, relatively speaking. I'd love to see that.

6. Thanks, but you know President Obama is not going to do that. What
the hell is his problem with this bipartisan ship that is not working for him!

Meanwhile all the chiquawas (those snarly little dogs and pardon my spelling, I prefer poodles) biting him and he still want to work with rethugs!

11. I'm going to get pummeled for this, but here's my take on it:
(for what it's worth)

The GOP/TP will try to sponsor/pass those things they voted against (including those they proposed/sponsored themselves) in a Dem House/Senate situation. For ANY of these that pass (because the GOP isn't being rejective/obstructive), they will take credit - loud and long, saying "Look! See what WE can get done??!" That they refused to pass the same said issues 2 months ago are assumed to be beyond the notice of the masses.

Sadly, it works for them all too often...

They will get credit for agreeing to those things they refused when they couldn't take any credit for such.

However - all that stems on the assumption that the GOP/TP understands the intricacies of the rest of the stuff... which they don't, The Dems are naively hopeful that, "well, now, we've got them by the short hairs because they HAVE TO cooperate!" Um... no. They don't. Their definition of cooperation is forcing Obama to make the Bush tax cuts permanent and repealing Health Reform legislation.

If it weren't so dire it would be - well, not funny, but incredible maybe.

they will continue to control women in terms of their rights. So knock yourself out!

15. I should have specified - I have no illusions/allusions (?) that the GOP
will pass anything that aren't purely GOP - I do think they'll be "willing" to pass those things that the Dems repeatedly announced incredulity that "these are bills that the GOP supported!?" and subsequently refused under Obama. Now that they have the House, I would think that the very same would be either interpreted by the GOP as "victories" if any part of such bills get a positive vote - or the lack of passage of such 'reasonable' bills squarely blamed on Obama.

"See? With US in the House, these things you wanted passed got passed. Therefore, Obama is a loser." (in obviously simplistic terms). I do not doubt for a minute that they were very well aware of opposing their own legislation for this very purpose....

Sadly, I agree with you - this does include women and their rights if they ever get that far.... that's frightening....

16. Sadly, now that the GOP has control of the House, President Obama can
kiss any of his progressive agenda to go through. Have no idea why a black man is such a threat to those fuckers, there, I said it and I stand by my words.

Goodluck President Obama, please make sure your birth certificate is bona vide. Step down and let the teabaggers run the US!

17. I'm afraid (very sadly) you answered your own question in your
first sentence....
I think these f-ers are racist. Period. None of them can hold a candle to this man, our President, intellectually (or morally, or on any other level of character - in my view) but narrow-minded mantras, when accepted are frighteningly accepted... by those who are barely listening and don't want to hear anything else.

That these TBag proponents are not only racist but don't seem to understand that they're voting against their own well being - is evidence that whoever is choreographer of this charade (Cough-Rov-what-cough!) is laughing at them and anyone who is falling for their legitimacy. I could be wrong, of course....

I, personally, am most affiliated with Native Americans - my dad was a tribal member and we have a place on the reservation. If I pushed the tribe, I have the records for it - something I'm not inclined to do, I would also be a formal member. My dad built a mental heath clinic amidst the poverty of the damn "fenced off" area his people were supposed to live within. I lived there with him for a year, with the true first Americans (in my view, the Europeans are all immigrants). By today's standards, it would not be inaccurate to label them as terrorists - on a level - our schoolbooks don't really go into that, though.... as they don't go into, yah, exactly... ). That said, on my mum's side of fully WASP-ish DAR approved (but denounced over marian anderson, along with so many others) were the opposite - but wanted to come here. I honor the first americans over others though few meaningful coalitions do, otherwise things would be different.

Far as I'm concerned, those who got here and took over because they could (and did so under religiously-fostered acts of murder, torture manipulation and worse). We don't count this as a war, by the way...

That said, the Founding documents that we use as the rule of law for this country are amazing - and shouldn't be maligned or misrepresented for self-serving short-term benefit of a few - for any reason.... I find it frightening that so many who cry "pro-Constitution!" then say or do things that clarify their complete lack of even taking 10 minutes to look at the bloody document itself...

Whether one was born on this land - prior to such land being legally named a state or not - or whether one was certainly born in another country and did everything possible to be an American - and succeeded - or failed - none of these things are reason to measure a person's worth, and the false mystery of Obama's origin is racism - pure and simple. Period.

The problem with those who question Obama's "Americanism" is purely one of racism - nothing more, nothing less.

18. sorry - in my other response I neglected to mention DADT - which
you're right about, too.

Having a dad who was in the Navy during WWII (and gay), this is something I can't even be pretend to be unaffected by, not even mildly.

I trust Obama - fallible though he may be. I think he is the one person we need in his position right now, and I accept that he's imperfect. I do not accept that he doesn't get it. I think he's working this out to the best of his ability - that which most of us are several steps behind.... and I'm okay with that.

What I don't believe in is voting against him - when doing so hurts the very things I believe in - even if I don't think he's accomplished all the things I've demanded and have listed on my TO DO list for his first 2 years. Why and how anyone would have voted for Republicans - or pseudo-TeaPartiers (nee Republicans) because I'm "mad" at Obama... because I think that would - send him a message??? Tell him what for??? .... all that would do would hurt me - the little guy...

Personally, I don't get the team members knocking their captain to this degree..... because the alternative - THINK of the alternative.....

19. Do you really think that the Gops care about us, if you down and out,
according to the Gops, pull yourself out and as to native americans, keep them in reservations with lots of slot machines. The Republicans are unkind to humanity, no wonder they hate dems so much, dems care about people!

20. No - I DONT - I thought I offered that in my general point... they
not only don't care about people on the most basic, empathetic level, but they don't care about their own - if/when doing so doesn't advance their directive. They are creepy, and that description is being more than kind. I think (we've done this before <g>) this is another issue where we agree... : )

Dems are actually willing to stand by their integrity - even to their own detriment. We both know that.

I think the reservation casinos are sad and devastating. Can I say that they're wrong? No. I don't have enough information. Do you know what it's like living in those remote shacks - in (albeit) beautiful places - being a 'soverign nation' while having no resources besides those your "babysitter" nation allows you - or are beneath your feet - which - if valuable - they come in and regulate??'

I think the casinos are a racist scourge, but I'm not going to demand their elimination if doing so means babies would die or be taken away.

We've never addressed the horror done to and still being done to true first Americans. My great grandmother was forced to attend a "mission" school... all the indians were. They weren't educated - they were trained to be servants. Not of God, of white people. But no one really cares.

Including me - to a point. I care about justice. I care about fairness. I believe that ALL of us deserve equal rights, and equal freedoms. Period. Especially when such freedoms are personal - never imposing (on any part) onto others and/or their lives or actions. ... and I passionately support every individual his/her right to the rights enjoyed by everyone else.

My dad was a gay American Indian. Enough said.
