The Dopes who voted for "change" are getting the same old poop -- Partisan Gridlock
Edited on Thu Nov-04-10 12:46 PM by Armstead
Watching Mitch McConnell (Mr. Nails on a Chalkboard) today made it clear.

The idiots who voted for the GOP because they wanted a "change" in Washington are going to be given the same old shit from the GOP Establishment and the Washington/Corporate Insiders -- that is, Stale Partisan Gridlock that will accomplish absolutely nothing.

McConnell spelled lout in no uncertain terms what they plan to do -- Absolutely Nothing....He didn't put it that way. But he obviously meant that the GOP is NOT gong to work towards any solutions to real problems. They are not going to budge on anything. No negotiations. No compromises. Nuthin.

And the Best Friend of the Same Old Status Quo Garbage is.......GRIDLOCK.

Sorry Teabaggers. You ain't getting any entree into the halls of power. You aren't getting a more "responsive" government that actually "listens to the people." You aint getting government "of the people."

You may have thought you were sending "real Americans" to shake up Washington. But you just sent a new supporting cast for the same old Corporate Puppets...So you are going to get just what you've been getting -- Absolutely Nothing. You too get to be spectators while the same old hacks battle it out over "strategic political advantage" while the Oligarchs get to reap the rewards of total government gridlock. You, the "real American people" -- Feh. You CONNEDservatives are just as irrelevant to them as progressives and anyone else who is not in the club.

For the existing oligarchs, you are correct.

But the grass roots teabaggers and "swing voters" wanted some kind of change

But they will get NO "conservative reform" for "smaller government." What they are getting instead is further entrenchment of the same old crap they have been complaining about. Just a continuation of the Big Business/Big Government alignments they thought they were shaking up.

I was (stupidly) originally for John Edwards because of his message. Yes, silly me...When he dropped out, I supported Obama (but with some reservations that have turned out to be justified.)

I think Obama Could be a great leader. He is an extremely intellegent, decent ADULT. But the same reasonableness that could make him great undermines his ability to effectively fight back against the GOP.

If I had my druthers -- My choice WOULD have been the guy in the picture in my icon. Bernie Sanders. He is a progressive populist whose message would resonate with many voters (including many of those who were bamboozled by the phony populism of the Tea Party) if there were a major political party behind it.

Dennis Kucinich has many flaws, is not a viable national Presidential candidate. But I certainly support his positions, and his integrity.

Howard Dean would have been high on my list, had he chosen to run. he's a pragmatic pfrogressive and did a good job as governor of vermont.

5. Don't feel bad Edwards was on the top of my list too.
Yep, it was his rhetoric that got me.

Bernie is great, one of our best. This country is not ready for anyone like Bernie. We're too stupid.
Same for Kuch. Dean the machine - he was getting it there until the media blew the 'scream' bullshit way, way out of proportion. They had to stop him. They got the memo.

Obama really got me. At first I thought, no way is this country ready to vote for an bi-racial man as President. I heard his speech at the DNC in '04 and he brought tears to my eyes. My husband and I looked at each other and said, 'someday this guy should run for President'. (sigh) And the day came and we were both ecstatic but, lately I'm getting a bit ticked off. I'm not ready to write him off yet but, he needs to do what w did. Plow forward! Maybe it's too late now that we don't have the House. We had 2 years to do it OUR way. I'm still weighing how I feel about the whole thing.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts and opinion.
