Is setting the President up for failure, treason?

It just doesn't seem right that the whole agenda of Mitch McConnell is to do everything to weaken the President.
He is our President, no matter where you stand politically. He is the leader of the United States - he represents us to the world.

Isn't making your whole goal to defeat him, and not to better the country against this country's best interest?

Yes, dissent is patriotic. "“My country, right or wrong; if right, to be kept right; and if wrong, to be set right.” Carl Schurz, 1872

But if setting it right means defeating the powers that were democratically elected to the point they can no longer govern - I have to ask -
at what point does this cross the line?

As much disgust as we had for Bush, no leader of the opposition party took to the bully pulpit to destroy him. Question him - yes. But they worked with him, much to our chagrin.

Thoughts???

1. Politics ain't beanbag
Apparently Obama still needs the rethuglicans kicking the shit out of him before he starts fighting back. Can't we all just get along? says Obama. Swift kick to the head by Mitch McConnell.

3. I see this as Mitchy needing more than a kick in the head - ooo he better watch out for Rand's
supporters.

Seriously, this is a bit extreme.

2. Well...they made it pretty plain that their whole job is to obstruct and do nothing.
If that's what voters want, and if that's what voters put them there to do, it's hard to call it treason. More like voluntarily sawing off one's own body part for spite, but hey.

10. Now their whole job is to make sure Obama isn't re-elected.
Straight from McConnell's foul mouth.

5. Personally, I think Blue Dog Dems weakened President Obama...
moreso than Rethugs. But, the Rethug MAIN agenda is to make sure this president fails, and to heck with trying to fix the economy. If nothing else, they're anti-American for sure.

6. Treason has a very clear legal definition, political opposition
does not meet this criteria, not even close. But I hope you know this already.

7. Yeah, if outing a covert CIA agent isn't treason...
...then one doubts if non-cooperating with the POTUS is...

14. First of all, I'm not running for Senate, am I? And second of all -
I know what the definition of treason is...and one if it's definitions is weakening the United States ...of course it refers to giving comfort to enemies...but it made me think of Mitch.

Third - can you maybe chill a little? I just threw this out there this morning while listening to him go on and on about taking down Obama, wondering what other people thought about his words & someone who is working against making America stronger. I know it's not treason, but it sure feels like McConnell is crossing the line with his rhetoric.

There's nothing wrong with sharing thoughts and asking others for their opinions. While it may
not be illegal (what Mitchy is doing), it sure does hurt our country. I too, consider him a traitor
to the United States. He and his ilk are bad for our democracy.

As Autumn said , it's politics. One side always tries to undermine the other side. No need to be so melodramatic.

19. Please....

Ganging up by repeating what someone just said, which was also repeating... just to pounce on
someone for asking an honest question. Melodramatic? No need to be sarcastic in EVERY thread.

But these thugs have acted in a treasonous way by hurting our country with their Party of No and dirty tricks.
