Krugman: The Fake Scandals Begin...No matter how bad you think it’s going to be, it’s actually worse
The Fake Scandals Begin

<...>

Update: No matter how bad you think it’s going to be, it’s actually worse:

The GOP plans to hold high profile hearings examining the alleged “scientific fraud” behind global warming, a sleeper issue in this election that motivated the base quite a bit.

The U.S. is destined to be left behind as long as lunatic regressives keep getting elected.

1. This is really going to make us an even greater laughing stock to the rest of the world.
Truly remarkable that these people can be so absolutely out of touch with reality.

13. I think someone from the Daily Show has been paid to infiltrate the House
to come up with these ideas, because, wow, are they making Jon Stewart's life easier.

3. could this actually be good?
The "fraud" was found to be no such thing. (I assume they're referring to those e-mails.) So why wouldn't hearings on global warming in front of God and the world be a good thing? Sure, the GOP would bring in faux scientists, but there really aren't very many people whose resumes would stand up to inspection who think global warming is fake. The real scientists the Democrats would bring in would have impeccable credentials. So could a public debate on global warming end up being a good thing?

9. That would be nice, but not it wouldn't be good
Most people won't understand the actual debate in the hearings. All they'll take away from it is that it's being investigated. Thus, something must be wrong with it.

4. I'm all for this investigation
A pointless expenditure on scientific matters conducted by hack politicians? This will look great in 2012.

7. I'm with holding judgment until the next session begins. I am going
to give him time to plan and react. To answer your question more directly, I sure as hell hope so, b/c he can expose
those bastards ulterior motives very easily...we all know what this denial of climate change is about for Republicans.

Destroy the environment now, make money, let someone else clean up the mess later.

Not to mention that "gravity" nonsense.

17. I suggest high profile hearings on how many angels fit on the head of a pin
(or in the eye of a needle); and what happens if they really do have libidos and genitals, after all.

10. The repugs keep putting us further and further behind compared to other powerful countries around
the world.

Dropping in education, transportation, and now this. They truly do want to take us backwards, it's really pissing me off.

12. I hope they do!!
Because it'll show voters that the republicans STILL have no concerns of addressing issues with the Economy or Jobs.

14. I heard George F. Will crowing about how now House committees have "investigative power."
That doesn't sound good.

15. Like show-trials, only stupider!
Sad part is I can't think of many things that would make their ignorant mouth-breathing base happier. Except actual show-trials, held post-execution, of course.
