Don't get intimidated by the rhetoric of these obnoxious clowns.
Edited on Fri Nov-05-10 12:38 PM by Writer
Look, this happens every election cycle for the modern GOP. They send out these provocative talking points meant to garner media attention, intimidate, and inflame emotions. But it's all bluster. These jackasses only have control of one chamber of Congress, and their hubris is palpable.

The best thing we can do for ourselves - the HEALTHIEST reaction - is to ORGANIZE, RADICALIZE, and start getting VOCAL. We need to start selling liberalism to the rest of the American people. We need to recapture the term, give it weight and meaning, and reinsert it into political culture.

The best reaction to rhetoric is ACTION. Not more rhetoric. Get on Facebook. Find folks in your area. Start gathering. Start talking. Start planning on ways of reaching out to other Americans in your community. Stop waiting for 'the system' to work for you - BECOME the system of change!

4. I will kick it for you. I said the other say that some are still getting a grip
on losing the House. I know it sucks but it is the reality. Time to get to work now. There is one good thing to come from this and that is we will watch how Repubs govern. If they spend all their time on investigations, I wonder how long it will be until the public gets frustrated with them.

8. Thanks for the kicks, guys.
I think it's time to channel our frustrations into action.

Maybe someone can make a Facebook page that people can join? Maybe something like "Liberal Action" or "The Liberal Action Network?" Think about what kind of an impact community-based actions can make on political culture as a whole! It takes small steps...

9. Was what they did to the Clintons, 'bluster?'
Edited on Fri Nov-05-10 01:02 PM by niceypoo
These people are sociopaths. They lie, they cheat, they steal, they destroy people, they commit election fraud, they torture people.....yeah, bluster....uhuh.

The only way to fight back is to use the bully pulpit to expose them for what they are.

10. How about we start organizing and make our case to other Americans?
I don't care whether their rhetoric derives from sociopathy or some other "Cluster B" personality disorder (ahem! NPD), but regardless that in no way dictates our actions.

13. You are exactly correct and we are doing it
in my County and Congressional District. In Ohio, we suffered huge losses and we are looking at an $8 billion dollar deficit. The Repubs are sure to hurt Ohioans badly.... We will stay vigilant, fight for the things that will lead us toward progress and make the public aware of everything the Republicans do to take us backward.

18. And I hope there are many more out there like you.
I think this needs to work OUTSIDE the framework of political parties. This needs to be an ideological movement, not just a political movement.

Think about this:

- Not since the 1930's have we seen this type of disparity of wealth in the US

- This complaint that the price of goods would increase by using American workers is bogus! The only people who are benefiting are those who own the large companies and corporations who are outsourcing. The price of goods has skyrocketing over the last decade as more and more products are made overseas!

- An unprecedented amount of wealth has transferred from the middle class to the upper class through the debt market over the last decade. Instead of raising our wages, CEO's have kept our wages flat but increased our access to debt. Naturally, to maintain our current lifestyles, we went to the debt market. Now we're in debt, corporate bonuses and salaries are at RECORD highs, and we have no relief in sight for our predicament.

WE NEED TO RADICALIZE!
