1. Like Lazurus, Quinn rises!

I had left him for dead weeks ago, but was hopeful that at least in IL we could avoid a Tea Party governor.

This is really the only brightspot for a horrible night in IL.

Quinn is very lucky to have faced such a flawed fringe candidate. Someone like Kirk Dillard would have mopped the floor with him.

2. No one ever appreciates the guy with the broom and shovel who follows the parade.

I thought Pat was toast too, frankly. The poor guy was given less than 2 years to clean up 10 years' worth of poop, and the entire time he was being hounded by the entirely-unhelpful GOP and the only-occasionally helpful Democrats in the Lege. He's a thoroughly decent, honest and compassionate man who, given a fair chance, has the potential to become a fine governor.

Let's wish him well.
