1. Is that what he is doing?
I wasn't sure of his specific goals there.

..Love the picture by the way, lol.

3. Na veen, in some language means be free
I'm sure of it. Wouldn't bet on it tho.

That is a great pic. It would work great in a freeway blogger posting.
Like on the side of a bus in front of a walmart store?

11. Probably not.
I'm starting to see most DU thread titles as exaggerations and not to believe them immediately. Inevitably looking further into the subject shows it to be nothing of the kind.

8. Here
http://www.csmonitor.com/World/Asia-South-Central/2010/1105/Obama-aims-to-deepen-US-economic-ties-with-India.-But-what-about-Wal-Mart/(page)/2

The US-India Business Council – the business group hosting Obama’s summit on Saturday – disagrees.

“The Indian retail sector is ripe for liberalization and greater international participation. Liberalization can have enormous positive effects by creating new and better employment opportunities, by introducing modern retail formats and technology, and by modernizing supply chain management and distribution,” the group says.

India’s Ministry of Commerce published a discussion paper in July that signaled government openness to opening the sector. While acknowledging concerns about wide-scale job losses, the paper noted that supply chains in India lack investment and innovation.

10. That's not proof. Do you have a direct quote that proves Pres. Obama is "a salesman for Wal-Mart"?

6. Business deals are on the agenda of his visit, but he is hardly lowering himself to touting Wal-mart
Presidential visits are largely ceremonial anyway. For example - a deal sealing an order for Boeing aircraft - manufactured in the USA - for some local airline was signed during his visit - but it was probably negotiated between the concerned parties well in advance.

12. I read somewhere that Wal Mart is the largest employer in the US..
That just sort of amazed me.. I don't know why.. I think the largest employer in Iowa is HyVee a grocery chain.

What I would like to see is more manufacturing, making things to export to other places.. but at a living wage.

If I remember correctly, we are having some real resurgence in manufacturing growth in the last year.

There is a two edged sword on this.. and it sits with the consumer and the producer.

Buying American.. and that might mean a higher price, because our economy does not work on 2.50 an hour.

If people are willing to buy American.. then producers can pay the wages we need..which then the consumer has more money to afford American goods.. sort of circular.
