Clyburn suggested that McConnell and the House Republicans who say they will repeal the bill as soon as they take over the Majority leadership in January reminded him of the South's efforts to repeal landmark civil rights legislation.

"I think that those people who are saying those things are really flying in the face of history," Clyburn said. "The Democrats lost (their) place in the South because of the Voting Rights Act of 1965," Clyburn recalled. "I remember (former Republican Senator) Strom Thurmond going back to Washington after 1968, saying, 'We are going to repeal the Voting Rights Act.'"

And, Clyburn so much as dared the Republicans to try.

"I would like to see which one of those Republicans would propose that we take away a person's family's right to have their child (who's) born with diabetes come off their insurance policies," Clyburn said.

Clyburn always seems to know exactly what to think, say, and do for the good of the American people.

Steny is just a little too much of a ConservaDem for my taste. He always seems to think, say, and work for corporate dollars.

Since the ConservaDems were defeated something awful last election while the progressives were barely touched, Clyburn should be Madame Speaker's right hand.

I love Clyburn! He is sooo right.

5. I like Clyburn a lot, and agree that he's the strongest contender for #2. It'd be great to see that

kind of rhetoric used more often from our side.

7. It's clear the Democrats need to stop coming to the gunfight with knives

and they need more fire to counter the prolific attacks by the Republican'ts.

We have the policies, the Reps and Senators to govern this country to benefit everyone, but we lack the bullhorn necessary to get our message out, and the fire to make it stick.

I hope, deeply hope, that the Democrats will stop playing footsie with Republican'ts and double-down now. Democrats need to come out with both guns blazing or we'll not only lose the Senate in 2012, but we'll lose the WH as well.

Americans are a passionate people, and we appear to want to see that same passion in the people we vote for. If President Obama and Congressional Democrats don't do a 180 change in attitude, all our policies, all our goodwill, and all our work for the good of the country, won't save us in 2012.

Majority Whip Clyburn and Madam Speaker Pelosi together with Senate Democrats can do just ONE thing to change this around: pass Medicare for all via reconciliation while we still have the House. Do this and we can guarantee a Democratic sweep in 2012. Refuse to go head-to-head with Republican'ts now, and we'll forever lose our power.
