Not only should the President not agree to any taxcuts for the rich, not even the first $250,000, but not on any of the Bush taxcuts for the wealthy. He should veto anything that veers from that even by ($1.00) one dollar.
Also, we should bring the troops home from Afghanistan on an early schedule. We should take that money saved and spend it on job creation. After all, get real! One million dollars per soldier! We dearly love the Afghani people but we simply cannot afford that price tag.
And we need to debate if $250,000 might not be a little too high to exempt from another 2 or 3 percent of taxes. That may be "middle-class" but that is also in the top 5% of income in this nation. Our country is in deep trouble with this severe recession and we all must sacrifice to get out of it.
Also, we should look at ways to improve the healthcare bill. We are open to all ideas. But we will not surrender the progress we have made so far. We will not repeal what we accomplished by requiring insurance companies not to drop you if you get seriously ill. We need that for the people. Just as you cannot be prevented from covering children with terminal illesses. Just as you should not have to take your children off your coverage just because they are in college or not yet established in this very tight economy. If you try to repeal that, it should be vetoed.
But, most of all, we need jobs. The last Administration robbed our economy and destroyed millions of jobs. That may not sit well with some people but it is true. The working people of America are our number one priority.
We are willing to work with Republicans if they are willing to help these folks that need help. We don't need any more "trickle-down" bullshit or horses that shit so the sparrows can eat. We ask that everyone be willing to pull their weight. Our country needs us.
