. . .enters the room, not the other way around.

One of the things that has bothered me from the time Obama was elected President the Republicans have always treated him as if he was supposed to be subservient to them and after the midterm results its only going to get worse.

As an African American I see this as being all about race and all the more insulting for that reason.

One of the things that needs to be driven home to the GOP and some in our own party is that Obama is the President of the United States and should be afforded the same respects given to other US presidents.

1. imo it's critical not to let Repukes get the upper hand now...
Being too willing to compromise will make him seem weaker to them, and their behavior will get worse.

These guys are disrespectful to everyone in the "Democrat" Party, and more so because of Obama's skin color - the tougher he is with them, the better for him and for the country.

2. They're determined to put him in his place
It doesn't matter that he's President of the United States, he's just another you-know-what.

6. I totally agree with you.
Even though President Obama is a Democrat, he would be treated with more respect from the repukes if he was white. It's all about the color of his skin. Our country is still so racist that I find it sickening.

5. It's not just them.

To some white people, Mr. Obama's status is completely ignored. It also gives one a clear picture of how power relationships are treated--especially when race is dealt with. Those who benefit from white privilege have a problem when a person of color is in a top position. They treat Mr. Obama as if he is beneath them. When the POTUS pulls rank, some in the dominant culture act out in negative, nasty ways. And they don't hold back in their disgust.

It's been that way since the 2008 elections.

8. Even the difference with his treatment vs. that of Bill Clinton!
Edited on Sun Nov-07-10 09:34 PM by FrenchieCat
I never heard anyone keep repeating over and over again,
that Pres. Clinton was their employee, and he'd better fucking do
as they said, or else.

With Pres. Obama, that's said here each and every day.

7. Amen! Like Joe the fuck Wilson, they'll do more of that
And the M$M will not call them on it. That is why we need to have his back and quit with all the "weakness" crap. He is NOT a weak person and I'm sick of hearing that and sick of so called progressives contributing to the Right Wing Talking Point with that crap.
