I note that the top 4, and 4 of the five that over 50% claimed using, are programs targeting the middle class. If you are at poverty level you are very unlikely to be using 529 student savings - you will be spending every penny that comes in. You won't have a mortgage, because you rent, not own. You won't have student loans.

The programs that specifically target the lowest incomes, like food stamps, and down at the 25-30% range.

So much for the shiftless spongers on welfare.

3. I have two buddies that are "self" made. One retired from Microsoft

and the other is a surgical assistant. The Microsoft guy doesn't realize he made a lot of his money at taxpayer expense. The surgical assistant did a lot of his work courtesy of government run health care.
Without government contracts Microsoft may never have hired the one guy.
