He takes responsibility for everything.. He then tries to correct it.. but many times he gets kneecapped as he does..

My advice to you President Obama, is keep trying to correct the ship of state.. but the fault is not yours for the previous administration(s) mishandling of the economy, war, personal rights etc.

People say they want an someone in office who will handle things in an adult manner. But that is not what they want.

People in general are pretty simplistic in their outlooks. They do not see gradations . If you are willing to take the blame for the other sides misdeeds.. they will heap it on you, and add to it.

Bush on the other hand takes responsibility for NOTHING..

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – Former President George W. Bush said on Wednesday he has a "clear conscience" about recognizing the problems that led to the financial crisis and he blamed Congress for blocking attempts to address them.

Bush, who initially kept a low-profile after leaving the White House, has been doing a series of high-profile interviews to promote his newly released memoir, "Decision Points."

2. Good Point.. He does not.. He thinks people in general will discern
the truth.. and they don't .. They want yes or no.. red or blue.. but they will not sit and compare and contrast and evaluate.

3. Sometimes I think it's difficult for intellectuals to realize.....
..... that many people are not deep thinkers and are very susceptible to jingoism.

4. Yep.. and we are getting worse at it as we go along.. our attentions spans
are those of a gnat.

So the "easiest" answer is the one people flock to. The do not have to think about it.

9. I am off to work..but you hit that nail on the head. As long as people
are watching FOX news.. and taking it to heart.. This is going to be a very difficult situation with those voters.

7. He has stood up
But he has been oh, so polite.

He needs a little MLK spirit. He needs to realize that this is bigger than him, like MLK did.

He needs to go to the top of the mountain, then come back and play a little smash-mouth ball.

8. A "dumbed down America" is a difficult concept
for someone with high intellect and vision to grasp. Presidents are also so fecking isolated. It is the nature of the beast. I do think he will eventually get it but the question is, will it be in time to save his presidency? At this point I am not sure. You post is a good one.

10. This is why 'turn the page and look forward' was a mistake
While it is fun to claim that people don't want 'adult' style governing, I simply do not agree that most Americans see glossing over and covering up obvious crimes as 'adult'. People can see what has gone on, and when they are told to forget about it, that is when they know that there is no responsible adult doling out accountability. It is not all that complex, as we all know what we expect of adults in charge, and that is a fair hand. Helping criminals go free to brag about their crimes is irresponsible, self serving and absolutely not 'adult'. It is crony politics, writ large, and telling people they are childish for wanting accountability when they themselves are always held accountable is a losing meme.

18. People care about the economy
Almost no one outside DU ever even mentions Bush's war crimes.

Maybe they remember they supported those wars.

23. Whatever. I was directly responding to points made by the OP
From OP: "but the fault is not yours for the previous administration(s) mishandling of the economy, war, personal rights etc."
Why is he blamed for Bush's actions? Because he turned that page, and looked away. The entire world is talking about Bush's war crimes, pal, and the fact that your small world does not allow you to know that is just sad. Officials of other governments are commenting on it, his crimes are one of the week's big stories, the waterboarding confessions have been international news. So you are simply wrong. Painfully wrong.

11. Wow. An Obama love fest post
I'd better shut my mouth and not mention any of the facts of his Presidency to date... especially of all the "accomplishments" and the actual character of the legislation passed.

Zipping my lip... now.

Who can't see progress even when it hits their pure nose.

24. And the so called"moderates" opposing their neighbor's
equal rights while allowing torturers to run free. The "centrists" who can not bear their neighbor's having rights, but are just fine with making war crimes into some form of "sacrament" in their "faith".

Progress will be the day all Americans have equal rights. Until then, get used to the noise, child. If you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen.

Oh, well. I'm sure they'll come around by 2012.

17. I don't like that either
People rant on about how we all ought to take responsibility for our decisions. But actually do it, and they just take advantage of that. So my theory is the right wing "take responsibility" theme is just for manipulative purposes. Actually do it, and they just pile on.

And a couple of times Obama has taken responsibility for things that he should not have (though maybe he just gets that the media is going to blame him anyway).

25. The rich are NEVER going to take responsibility for their actions
But they sure as hell want you to be forced to take responsibility.

I was channel surfing this morning and happened on Regis and Kelly. She was reminiscing about her early career and how she got her first few jobs. The one she talked about was a job juggling tennis balls at a trade show (or something like that). The casting couch guy asked her if she could juggle, "I can juggle anything, balls, fire, xxx (can't remember), she said. Then she admitted: I didn't know how to juggle at all. She went on to explain how she studied juggling so she could do the gig.

This, in microcosm, is my opinion of the business and political world. How many candidates were honest with the "director" and admitted they did not know how to juggle. They did not get the job. Who got the job? The liar. The fraud who claimed to be able to do something she knew she could not do. She's not the only one. It's a common practice that get's you labeled a "go getter," or a "mover and a shaker."

Honesty is not rewarded in our society. Lying is, theft is, being a conman is.

Unless we're talking about the workers that is. The workers are watched like a hawk, double checked, put on camera, conversations are recorded, and punished or fired for the slightest infraction or minor deviation from the norm of worker-drone-hood.

Then when you leave work you face surveillance cameras, red light cameras, every device you own tracking you and reporting back to its evil masters, your grocery store tracking your purchases for possible use in lawsuits against you later on, your computer tracking where you go and cable/satellite box reporting your watching habits. If you go to the doctor, the insurance industry will know about it because they have a database called the MIB (Medical Information Bureau) that has your every health transaction since birth. When will it become common for all these items to be used against the little people (but never against the real crooks).
