There are those on the Left, idealists, who believe Social Security...
Edited on Wed Nov-10-10 08:37 PM by MannyGoldstein
is beyond change. That it must return what was promised to those who contributed over their many years of hard work. Make no mistake: Social Security is a cherished and vital program, and it must be saved. According to projections that have historically way-underestimated the health of this program, in just 27 years benefits will have to be reduced slightly, if we fail to take action.

Two years ago, I promised change to the American People. It is change that we must embrace, and not the status quo: that is the unique story of our country. A proud people with a rich history of ever moving ahead through the embrace of change, while the bankers embraced our dollars.

The reality is that Social Security too must change. It is clear that we must reduce the benefits that Americans enjoy, to save this important program and to save continued tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans. I thank Alan Simpson and Erskine Bowles for their service - two men who love their country, who answered my call to this committee, and have had the foresight and courage to make the difficult call to steal more stuff from working Americans.

2. Given his choice of these men, I don't think the prez will fight this much...
...and if he doesn't, he'll deserve to lose in 2012.

6. There are so few Donald Trumps getting SS benefits that it doesn't
affect the bottom line for the other millions.

You would cut off so many in order to hurt a few? How petty.

I'd much rather see Donald Trump get his $2,500 a month or so than see millions upon millions of other seniors lose $50 a month.

But that's just me.

5. If Social Security is cut, Democats have lost me forever.
I will hapily throw my vote away for a Green.

I am writing my Senators, members of the House, and the President.

If they want to cut the deficite, they need to cut defense.

I would rather see a snake of a Republican elected. We know the type of slime balls they are.
