Cenk says Dems need to be able to articulate succinctly what they stand for just as R's do with their "limited government low taxes" self-label. He advocates "Opportunity and Responsibility." I would take it a few steps further. Here is what we D's stand for:
* OPPORTUNITY to all who work hard and play by the rules. * RESPONSIBILITY from all, including Wall Street, big corporations, and the rich. * SECURITY in income, health, and retirement. * INCLUSION of all Americans regardless of race, religion, national origin, and orientation. * FAIRNESS in taxation and socially regardless of race, income level, religion, national origin, and orientation. * PROGRESS socially, economically, and environmentally. We are the party of the FUTURE.
In contrast, the R's are the party of:
* The failed trickle down theory where only the rich are helped and then they are supposed to do what is right for everyone else, we hope. * Recklessness in all of their policies, especially their economic and military policies. They have no problem slashing and burning Wall Street regulations and trying to be messianic militarists. * "On your own" instead of mutual security. * Exclusion and intolerance of those not just like them. * No sense of fairness. * Backwardsness in a big way. They want to return to the Articles of Confederation.
(What do you think?)
