Obama on catfood comm- “Before anybody starts shooting down proposals, I think we need to listen..."
SEOUL – President Obama on Thursday knocked congressional Democrats, including House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who have spoken out against a preliminary proposal from the co-chairs of his bipartisan deficit commission.

“Before anybody starts shooting down proposals, I think we need to listen. We have to gather up all the facts,” Obama said at a news conference on Thursday. “We have to be straight with the American people. ... We can’t just engage in political rhetoric.”

...

Asked what message he has for his party on the commission’s efforts, Obama said, “I set up this commission precisely because I’m here to make some tough decisions. I can’t make them alone. I need congress to work with me.”

“There was a lot of talk during the course of this campaign season about debt and deficits,” he added. “And unfortunately, a lot of the talk didn’t match up with reality.”

3. Exactly!!
Seems to me that many on this board have A) An Agenda or B) They didn't listen to the man while running for President.

He said many many times that he would listen to ALL suggestions/opinions no matter where they came from and if HE thought they would help move our country forward then great.

But as shown by many here, those words were ignored.

5. K&R. Listen, get all the facts, then make some decisions.
Shooting down preliminary ideas is not helpful.

6. Did I miss the preliminary proposal to raise taxes on the wealthy?
Didn't think so. "Preliminary" or not, we can see the direction the catfood commission is headed. Corporations and the wealthy will benefit, the middle class will get screwed.
