Poll question: How would you rate you local Democratic Party?
I am taking about the County level organization. Two ultimate indications are its ability to register voters and its ability to get out the vote.

But I am looking for anecdotes as well.

So two questions Is it excellent, good, poor or nonexistence and
Can you name the local party chairman.

2. Locally, the party is great.
Very liberal, very pro-union. My Congressman and State reps are excellent. They're everything we want from the party. The rest of the state sucks major league horse cock.

4. The Dem Party here rarely even runs an opposition candidate for ANYTHING!
The most excitement I've seensince moving here in 2000 was when Howard Dean was running. The Dem Party didn't do a thing but WE as the few Dems that exist had weekly meetups and were drawing several hundres people prior to Dean quitting the race. That enthusiasm never transferred to Kerry. I still think if the Party at least tried, we MIGHT be able to get soe Dems elected in foundation offices. BTW, I did attend 3 meetings & they were so much a waste of time I stopped going.

5. It's excellent and I know the chair. My county saw 75 percent of eligible voters turn out last week.
We are just a little bit badass that way.

7. The Cook County Democratic Party...brought in more than
450,000 votes more for Quinn than his opponent. Yes, it didn't beat Kirk, but Quinn has a very very important role to play in state finances.

Questions of education, health and welfare, and many other issues need to be dealt with by an individual with a brain and some feelings for others. His opponent who I will not mention was going to cut all spending by 10 percent..even help for vets that needed it. These right wing assholes have no feelings for anyone but themselves..I am so greatful Quinn won.

8. I voted for it's poor, and I know the county chairman.
I suppose by the standards of some other areas of the country, the local organization is so-so. But I can't help but say poor as, here I sit in the most blue county in all of Florida, and my new representative is Allen West. If you can't GOTV against a guy like that, you suck.

9. It's great in Austin. Used to know the chair, but don't now the current one.
Only one Republican beat any Democrat in Travis County, and that was in a very conservative area with a rep who ran a bad campaign. Even in the conservative northwest part of the city, where I live, the Democrat won the state legislative seat--by 16 votes out of 50K. Never assume all your efforts don't make a difference. In fact, the Republicans are one vote away from a super majority that would allow them to amend the State Constitution and use the Rainy Day Fund (just what it sounds like), so Donna Howard with her 16 vote margin of victory all that prevented it.

Everything matters. :)

10. I rated mine as poor and know the chair.
I would rate my state party as worse. And my district party as very good.
